This is too quick of a movement towards defederation. Except in the most extreme of circumstances, it should be up to individual users whether they want to engage with other communities, and users can always block communities they find objectionable. It is not in the best interest of users to treat them as being incapable of making their own reasoned decisions about this kind of thing.
Fortunately, thanks to the wonders of the fediverse, I can just make a new account on a different instance and start engaging with Lemmy that way. Anyone have any recommendations on alternatives to lemmy.world?
Runick Muskets is a deck that has been kicking around for a while - here's my take on it. Morganite is absolutely crazy in this deck. The extra draws are relevant, hand traps aren't missed too much because you have the Musket cards/Runick Fountain, and the Muskets let you get value off the Morganite right away (which is otherwise one of the card's biggest weaknesses). A few notes: - Muckraker goes crazy in this list. You generate so much value that the pitch for cost to resummon a Musket feels like nothing. The protection is useful too. - A lot of lists don't run Magical Musket Wild, but I was always happy to have him, especially in the grindier matchups. Recycling a Max or three of your interrupts can win some games on the spot. - Dweller comes up surprisingly often, as does Chaos Angel.

Thanks for the kind words! It hasn't been much work at all - I'm having lots of fun with it. And I've been really pleased with the level of engagement. The community is basically just a place for me to post yugioh stuff I think is cool, and occasionally people will stop by to check it out or share something that they think is cool.
I'll try to keep on top of YCS results and I've got a few ideas for fun decklists.
Hi everyone! Been having lots of fun getting this space up and running, and I'm glad to see people stopping by. I figured this was a good time to check in with you all and see how I can improve your experience. Is there any kind of content you'd like to see more of? Anything else I can do to make this community better? Feel free to drop a comment or shoot me a message!

It's nothing special, but I love my Immortal Phoenix Gearfried reprint that I got out of Amazing Defenders. The card is only worth one cent, but fire warrior jank is my favorite deck on MD/simulators, and I'm so happy to own my favorite card in paper.

Cute pic! Didn't know we had an MD community
Does anyone have a good decklist and/or guide for R-Ace post DUNE? I want to try and brew some jank with them, but I need to know how the deck works normally first.
Deck I've been tinkering with on Omega lately. Fire warrior is like my favorite theme of monster, so my eyes turned into little dollar signs when I saw that Riseheart is a fire warrior. This is a classic example of making a good deck (Adventure Kashtira) worse by playing junk in it. But a little thing like "common sense" or "good deckbuilding" is not enough to keep me from making Isolde, using her effect to get out Renaud, making Sprind, and dumping Nimble Angler.
A really fascinating and facially powerful card. There are very few decks in the format right now that do not want to be making 2 monsters from the ED. Now if you go second, you have something to go into if your starter gets impermed or you brick. It also turns off the opponent's zeus or baronne, which is very funny.
Hard to tell how good this card is, but I know this: it won't stop Kash from locking your pend zones! Seriously is there any way for pend to be viable while Kash is a thing?

I tend to agree with the idea that MD has sort of cut itself off at the knees by pursuing its weird unique banlist and cardpool. If MD had committed to being "the OCG simulator," then the Bo1 format would be less offputting, Maxx C's continued presence would be less of a war crime, and TCG players would have a way to get hyped about cards coming down the pipeline that they'll eventually be able to play in paper
I think MD's generous monetization model and its delayed card releases reflect a perspective of fear on the part of Konami that MD, if given all the current cards, would make it so nobody played or bought paper anymore. I think that's just not true. There are several very good free online simulators that let people play every yugioh card entirely for free, and paper continues to thrive.
Tl;dr give MD access to all OCG cards in real time. Also where tf is my Edison event
amcjv12 1 year ago • 100%
Zero percent chance this isn't a cover to launch something more predatory for monetization reasons.
I didn't realize that the MD WCS had its own special format. The idea of teams and shared cards seems super interesting - can't wait to tune in.
AGOV can't possibly get more based! (clueless) These all look amazing. Yusei vs. Bruno is one of my all time favorite duels, and I'm stoked to see support for this archetype. Also the lvl 1 tuner is a fire so you can search it with the new Snake Eye monster that adds a lvl 1 fire to hand. No idea why you'd want to do that, but the option is there!

I don't have fun at all - when I work out just to "work out," anyway. Then I have to think about it sort of like physical medicine. I do it cause it's good for me.
But if I can find a way to get the heart pumping that's primarily about doing an activity, with fitness just being secondary, I have a lot more fun. I recently got into boxing for fitness because kneee trouble was making high-impact cardio painful. Love it. Training becomes something to look forward to because boxing is fun rather than metaphorical castor oil that I swallow down because I need to.
The amount of generic pyro support in AGOV slaps. I may buy a couple boxes just because I think the set has cool stuff and not for resale

Are these the ones with staples in them? I'd guess maybe something meta-ish that still needs more product to be totally competitive. Maybe like Tri-Brigade and Icejade?
This looks crazy - send ANY CARD from hand to reborn a fire monster. Then after you go through your combo, add your stuff back to deck and draw a card. The first effect isn't even OPT. AGOV continues to ball out so hard
Someone qualified with Exosisters???? Waifu deck players are just built different
AGOV is looking cooler and cooler. The boss monster for these guys has a unique form of removal - it can turn an opponent's monster into a continuous spell/trap.
Hard to rate this kind of card, but it does let you send any fiend or beast to grave. Maybe there are some goofy Tri-Brigade builds that could splash some of the Illusion stuff?

This is like a whole thing with people looking for more environmentally friendly ways to ship stuff - tho rn it looks more like a hobby for rich people hauling their bougie wine and chocolate or whatever. I for one think that having sailing ships come back with modern features would be cool!
And the Rikka player ended up winning the whole thing! Kash is still the best deck by the numbers, though. Interesting to see so much representation from DLink.

Babe wake up, new annoying thing to do with Powertool Braver just dropped Edit: jk, apparently Braver equips simultaneously, so this doesn't work with it. Still an interesting card tho

Nitter's not working for me, either. Just returns no results when I run a search.
Whenever I play against someone who uses the Dragonmaid/Ash/Galatea mate with the Mayakashi/Raye/Ecclesia profile portrait, I always know I'm in for a bad time, and have reasonable grounds to suspect the person is a degen waifu deck enjoyer.
A few days late, but the increasingly popular Edison Format just saw another successful tournament in Deck Devastators 4. An extremely cool and diverse topcut - I was especially excited to see Flamvell get a pretty impressive result at 5th place. Edison really is just so fun. It makes me wish I lived near an LGS so I could go play in paper, and that there was a bit more simulator support (DB is great but can be tough to use).
Shocked to see this is still at 3 bucks - I haven't heard of anyone making decent use of the effect. I personally will be brewing with this using Magical Musket when it comes to Master Duel.
Schmidtheads rejoiced - Circular is now at 1 in both the TCG and OCG. Is Master Duel soon to follow? Nadir's Servant is now at 3. Dogmatika is a pet deck of mine, so I hope this change comes to other banlists soon as well.
Another community tournament was held yesterday with results that roughly align with the first community tournament. Salad won the whole tournament, and Subterror appears to have had the best conversion rate into Top 8. Nothing much to add about either of those decks save that they remain strong options. Here are the breakdowns for deck entries overall and Top 8: ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/a354f571-b645-4a89-a3f0-6f1e8f9068da.png) ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/5529271e-9d0c-4d32-9ade-61a705322229.png) Still, despite ending in an expected manner, there were a few surprises. A normal pend deck - largely considered one of the worst decks in the core set - managed to sneak its way into Top 8. Props to the pilot for taking the deck that far. The list is below. I'm particularly interested in the inclusion of Lose One Turn, which is an impactful sort-of-floodgate but can only be activated if you don't control any special summoned monsters. The pilot must have found the card strong enough and easy enough to play around to make it worth including despite the pend summon game plan. ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/52782102-8a30-49da-ad76-da016cfd8b1f.png) Last and not least we have the second place deck: Blue-Eyes. My (completely biased) opinion is that Blue-Eyes is the most interesting deck in the format because it has not been solved to the same degree as other options. Things like ratios (how many polys and/or Abyss do you run?), generic inclusions (does Gizmek belong in this deck?), and even complete engines (since there are so many tuners, is it worth running a Junk Converter package?) vary widely between builds. And as far as I can tell, there is not a single definitive list as of yet. The second place pilot's deck is below. It's a straightforward list with no gimmicks, but there are still a few choices to talk about. The pilot chose to include two Abyss and two poly, demonstrating how important access to Tyrant is and perhaps showing confidence that the deck is consistent enough to get to two Abyss over the course of a game (and can survive seeing one in the opening hand). Two White Stone of Legend gives you more chances to add vanilla Blue-Eyes to your hand immediately - again, a possible sign that access to Tyrant is a main priority. Finally, there is only 1 Veiler in the main. Blue-Eyes is essentially the only deck that can potentially run this small amount of Veiler because Sage with Eyes of Blue searches any lvl 1 Light Tuner. Interestingly, the pilot mentioned on the Rotation Format discord that Veiler was not good, and might be cut in a future list. ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/12c3aa39-08fb-471e-b24b-aac5ca14d986.png) That's all for now! I'm really loving doing these personal breakdowns. They don't have anything that isn't already in the discord, but it makes me study tournament results more closely and hopefully will improve my format knowledge.

Chad Galaxy-Eyes enjoyers have built a whole ass website to teach you how to play their somewhat mid (sorry) but thematically flavorful and cool deck. That's some serious dedication. Stolen shamelessly from Reddit, but hey, that's the vibe 😎
amcjv12 1 year ago • 100%
Damn. That's a pretty impressive bump.
A bit of extra consistency never hurts. Seriously thinking about just buying three of this deck in paper and rocking it at locals.
The Rotation Format discord just had its first ever unofficial community tournament with the core set, which is the set of cards that will be permanently legal moving forward while other yet-to-be-released sets rotate out. (For more information about Rotation Format, check out [this post](https://lemmy.world/post/128434)) The results, while largely expected, also had a few surprises. The picture in the post title is the overall breakdown of entrants. And the picture below is top 10: ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/4ccf3ce1-7d39-445e-aaa4-c325e8f11f93.png) And the overall winner of the tournament was Quantal Think on a pretty conventional Salad list. The most notable departure imo is the three maindecked Fusion of Fire, which is used in this format to break opposing Salad boards: ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/7d01fed4-fff7-4ac1-90d9-aa6c4efec86e.png) As these results show, Salad is - at least based on this limited amount of data - the king of the core set. The deck excels at trading favorably with a Balynx-protected Rage and grinding out games while other brews struggle to keep up. Everyone went in thinking Salad was the best deck, and that seems to be the case. But a bit more surprising was the performance of a deck that thus far has lurked a bit under the radar: Subterror. Despite making up only around 17% of the initial decks, a full 30% of the top 10 was Subterror. I am not a Subterror expert, but my experience is that the deck in the hands of a competent pilot could really pack a punch, and is hindered only by a tough Salad matchup (but then again, what isn't?). I'm just excited to be able to side NoC and not feel bad about it. Other decks significantly underperformed expectations. Utopia had exactly zero representation in top 10 despite having the same percentage of initial entrants as Subterror - ouch. Though the deck can go off if allowed to combo, Utopia may just be too weak to a single point of interaction to be very viable as the format becomes increasingly solved. Iris Control (aka "Lesbian Turbo"), despite being a fan favorite, also had a disappointing day. Iris piles vary widely in what techs they use and what staples they run, but a lvl 8 "boss" that is finicky to get out and easy to brick on may be having a rough time against more consistent archetype-based decks. Tldr: Salad good, Rage strong, Subterror is a legitimate threat. Will be interesting to see if or how the meta shifts prior to the official MBT tourney projected to occur sometime next week. I'll be posting a breakdown of that tournament too - try to contain your excitement, everyone!

Hello! I'm not a big branded guy, so I can't say for certain whether better guides than this exist. But MasterDuelMeta recently put out a branded/bystial guide that discusses different combos, tech options, and decklists. Here it is: https://www.masterduelmeta.com/articles/guides/branded-bystial-vector#whats-new.
Hope this is along the lines of what you were looking for!

I love Lemmy, but as others have already said, the vast majority of these signups are likely bots. Pretty spooky.
E3 just posted this video about a Gemini deck designed for the Edison format. Gemini looks . . . disturbingly playable. The Gemini-focused stuff starts at 13:00.

Another thought: making a community can also be a nice structured incentive to check in on your hobby regularly. I like looking for videos or articles to link to for my yugioh community even though there's not many people subscribed - it gives me an opportunity to interact with and think about the game in different ways than I normally do.

As a follow up to yesterday's Springan appreciation post, here's a cool MD deck. Using fours to go into Redoer and search Gamma off of the Psyframe link makes happy chemicals go off in my brain. Definitely not a T1 deck but very fun imo

MBT has been talking about this idea for a bit, and this is the result: a custom-designed sealed format. This is the first part of the series and involves the release of a "core set" of cards (a handmade cube, basically). The cards in this core set will remain permanently available while cards from other sets, which will be released in waves, will rotate out. It's basically kind of like - may God forgive me for even uttering the word - how Hearthstone handles it. The core set is linked in the description of the video. I think it's a super interesting concept. There's going to be tournaments held using this core set/any future sets, and I definitely intend to try my hand at some brews.

Got my butt absolutely blasted in the Legend Anthology event by this deck. He used the Speedroid cards to make the lvl 3 synchro, activated the synchro's effect to summon the other two, summoned the Wheelder from hand, overlaid for the XYZ, and equipped Psychic Blade. I was on earth machine - he walked over my Super Dora and Anger Knuckle and swung for game. Pretty funny!

amcjv12 1 year ago • 100%
I unfortunately think 1 is the most likely, at least for now. A one-time disruption won't be enough to sink Reddit. What could permanently change things is the sustained build-up of viable alternatives over time. So I guess you can look at the blackout stuff not as the end for Reddit, but maybe the canary in the coal mine for a gradual descent.

Come hang out and discuss all things Yu-Gi-Oh! Thought it might be nice to have a specialized place in addition to the general gaming communities.
Did anyone catch the MCS this past weekend? Some pretty good games. Bystial Spright really came out swinging. I feel like there may be room for a third deck in the format alongside Tear and the various Spright variants. Maybe some kind of Branded list? Branded didn't do so hot in the tournament, but it's tough to tell how much a Bo3 top cut reflects the Bo1 ladder meta.

I know we already have a name for communities - they're, well, communities - but what if we had a nickname for them as well? Based on some discussion in another thread, it looks like a popular suggestion for what to call Lemmy users is "lemmings." Why don't we lean into the branding and call the communities "cliffs"? I like the mental image of different packs of lemmings running together off of lots of digital cliffs
