That was my first thought as well. I thought I’d try the first 10 minutes to get a sense of it.
Anyway, four hours later…

There are two main types of data retention policy:
- Retain everything to protect the company when the staff do something dodgy.
- Delete everything to protect management when management do something dodgy.
It’s a little more nuanced than that, of course, but in broad strokes that’s how I’ve seen it play out. Does the company want to pin the blame on somebody or shrug and say “we have no idea how that can have happened, guess we need to forget about it.”

If it’s your car, then you are responsible for the safety of your passengers. You should ensure that any adults are aware of how to use the safety features, e.g. seatbelts, and you have a plan for evacuation of any children in the event of an emergency. Just like if you’re driving a car with child safety locks on the rear doors that prevent those doors from being opened from the inside.
Hate on Tesla or Musk all you want, but let’s not spread easily-disprovable FUD. It weakens whatever argument you’re trying to make.

This is a rather slow response from me, but I’m glad that you clicked blindly on my Spotify link and were rewarded 😊 I’d recommend the live concert DVD as well - with a guest appearance by a certain behatted author who came out to see his favourite band play an album based on his books. And frankly from there I’d recommend everything Steeleye Span have ever recorded.

9 months here. It gets better. IT GETS BETTER.
The first couple of months are hell. Make sure you and your girlfriend both get breaks when you can, and prioritise sleep. Celebrate the little things, because the only big things this month will be bags under eyes and bags of nappies. Call on family for support if you can. Invite friends over to meet the baby.
When she starts sleeping for longer periods your life will start to come back. You’re daddy forever now, though!
Hang in there buddy. You’re going through the worst part of it all, but this too will pass. You have the strength to power through. You got this.

Time to invest in concrete companies. The demand is going to be HUGE!
Hiya, I’m wondering if anybody knows of any other brands like [Eve](https://www.evehome.com) that sell local-network-only no-cloud HomeKit products. To make that word salad a bit clearer, I’m looking for devices that: - work with HomeKit, either directly or over Thread or Matter. - don’t have any mandatory cloud services from the vendor. - don’t have any optional cloud services from the vendor. - don’t phone home to their vendor. - is supported as running in a VLAN with no WAN access, or can be trusted in a secure VLAN with WAN access as it won’t abuse that trust. I’d be very interested to hear your experiences and recommendations around the above. I recognise that some devices can be run in a secured VLAN in a non-vendor recommended manner and am interested to hear about them, but the main focus of this thread is to determine if there are and brands besides Eve that explicitly manufacture “local-only” HomeKit devices.
