The following is just my own assumptions, take with a grain of salt.
Phones are often taken out to perform a quick task, then stashed back in a pocket/bag many times a day. As such, being able to unlock a phone quickly is a rather useful feature.
On the other hand, laptops are usually taken out to be used for larger tasks, and as such, do not need to be unlocked as often.
Fingerprint scanners add less value to a laptop than they do a phone.

My dad got me a Linux laptop as a kid (I was 10 I think?), and I am so grateful that he did.
To be fair, I already had a huge passion for computing, and it meant that I would constantly toy around with Linux, breaking things and learning how to fix them.
I have been a Linux user ever since, and I feel have learnt so much about computing because of it.
(I started on Ubuntu 12.04, with the glorious Unity desktop)

People aren’t inherently greedy. People are born into a system that rewards greed, and punishes altruism. There have been many different societies with many different political and economic systems, and capitalism is a fairly new one all things considered.
Rational self interest is irrational. If only a few can succeed, chances are you fail. If everyone only looks out for themselves, then everyone fails. Humanity’s biggest strength — what set us apart from many other animals — is our ability to work together and look out for each other.
Capitalism doesn’t work, and is destroying the Earth.

Honestly, I think some of his greatest content comes about when he is procrastinating. I mean, if he didn’t procrastinate in S9, we wouldn’t have gotten him and Scar blowing up Doc’s tunnel bore, leading to the perimiter war.
Grian seems like the kind of person who is always coming up with new, grand ideas. I think thats one of the reasons he has done so well in the MCYT space.
And personally, I think it’s fine he doesn’t finish some of his projects. To me, Hermitcraft isn’t just about the projects; the main draw for me is the interactions and collaborations that come from the server.
I am really glad that the Hermits are catching on to the fact that many people are here to see them, not the giant bases they build.
I know that feeling of being super inspired to make something big, something grand and ambitious, and then to lose interest once the exciting parts have been done.
Also, would not be surprised if Grian has ADHD or something.
Basically, I think his episodes are great regardless of how much “progress” he makes, and while I think he is working on improving his scoping, he is still learning like everyone else, and I think S10 has been a great step in the right direction.

Just going to add that you can also use commands or external tools to locate structures. Some people would consider it cheating, but imo, as someone who has played the game for a long time, I think there are times where using such tools can make the game more fun (which is the goal of a game). It can be fun to just explore around, but it can be frustrating not finding what you are looking for.
If you are an operator on the server, you can use /seed, which will give you the world seed that you can copy by clicking the text in chat. Put that seed, when prompted, in to https://www.chunkbase.com/apps/ and it will tell you the coordinates of the structure you wish to find.
You can also use the /locate command, info for using it is here: https://minecraft.wiki/w/Commands/locate
Of course, I’m only mentioning these as options. It’s up to you what you think would be most fun for you and your kid. Just walking out in to the wilderness can also be fun (remember, your spawn is usually within 100 block range of coords 0 64 0, so you can use that to get home). Others have suggested cartographers; if you need Emeralds selling a Farmer his own wheat (from village hay-bales) can help.

Do you know why there’s KDE, XFCE and others? Because there’s also a lot of people who dislike GNOME.
If we are getting pedantic here, the above quote is clearly implying that alternatives exist and are actively developed because people dislike GNOME. Your statement does not take in to account the possibility that people just like the other alternatives, and may still like GNOME as well, or feel indifference towards it.
No one is claiming that GNOME has the superior desktop experience. Rather, GNOME has a more opinionated experience, that suits some people, and not others. For some people, it will be superior. For others, they will prefer KDE, XFCE etc.
I know the first thing everyone will say is to use an AMD GPU. Agreed, sounds good (NVIDIA is sucky on my current machine). I have no clue which ones to start looking in to however. I'm someone that is pretty good with the software side of computing, but not so much with the hardware side. I can comfortably construct a computer, just don't know much about what the best components to buy are. Any hardware suggestions / recommendations (for any component) are greatly appreciated (reasons for the suggestion is an optional bonus I would appreciate). As for budget, I probably don't wanna spend much over $2.5K USD. $1K to 2K is probably about my preferred budget. Thanks in advance to anyone that decides to help out. (For anyone asking what I'll likely run on it: Arch Linux)

I use KDE Plasma, and much prefer the KDE color picker over the GTK one that Firefox uses, with `input type=color`. I know that I can set GTK_USE_PORTAL=1 to make Firefox use the native file picker, is there a way to make it use the native color picker as well? I know there probably isn't a way, but I figured it's worth a shot asking.

The first two episodes of the new Fionna and Cake show just dropped, and I really enjoyed it! Go watch it if you haven't already! Below are my thoughts on the two episodes. Please watch before hand, spoilers below! ::: spoiler Spoilers for both Episode 1 and 2 ### Overall thoughts Honestly, this show exceeded my expectations. I love that it has taken on a more mature style; Adventure Time really does grow up with it's fans. I don't think I have a single gripe, both episodes were just such a great time. The intro sequence for the show is so cool. I love the glitch effects! ### Episode 1 I loved seeing all the humanised versions of the Fionna and Cake characters; it was super fun trying to spot and recognise the different counterparts. I loved Cake POV, super fun. DONALD GLOVER IS BACK AS MARSHALL LEE WOOOO! I hope to see some Marshall Lee + Prince Gumball action later on. The Betty statue in the park was interesting. Is the dimension we saw a wish dimension? We see that Simon accidentally summons Cake into Ooo, did he create that dimension with his ritual? Or did it exist beforehand? LSP was great. Just as LSP as ever. Never change LSP. ### Episode 2 Firstly, I just wanna say: poor Simon. Jeez. Why did he take a job living in a museum? I get he's a nerd but like damn, seems like a tough life. I am hoping he will eventually sit down and tell a story for the little Fionna and Cake fan, seems like something the both of them need. I am loving seeing how the humans have set up in Ooo. I hope we get to explore more of their city. Seeing Simon and Finn finally just hang out together is so great. Looking forward to more Simon + Finn action going forwards. Unfortunately, it seems Jake is be dead by this point. I wonder how the shot from the trailer works then; might be another universe. Hoping we get to see some Huntress Wizard + Finn in a future episode. :::

And I am not meaning the other post requesting they post less, rather, I mean the comments I have seen left by various people saying some rather mean things about PugJesus. Hi all! Firstly, I want to thank everyone who has participated so far in this little experiment, I hope everyone had fun. I have been thinking for a while now (and you will probably notice that no rule rotation has occurred yet), that things need to change somewhat to stay fresh. The gameplay, right now, feels a bit stale to me. Maybe I am picking bad rules, but more likely, there's a problem with the core gameplay itself. I am thinking, maybe the community should focus less on bot moderation (the bot has *issues*) and use traditional moderation instead. This would allow more subjective rules, and also would prevent the errors that the bot had. I would like opinions on this; whether you think it should stay exactly how it is (of course adding more rule types as suggested), or should broader changes be made? Please comment below and let your opinions be heard! I will have the community locked again for a bit whilst this is in discussion.

Anyone banned last week is now un-banned. I have now whitelisted myself in the bot, so hopefully I won't get banned again if I coded it correctly. The bot is still very much unstable, so you may find that you get banned late. If so, that is because the bot likely crashed, and I haven't restarted it yet. I have seen all the suggestions posted, and they all are awesome. I will slowly be writing more rule types into the bot. I hope one day to automate rule generation, but right now the bot is far too rudimentary and unstable for that. Feel free to leave any feedback/suggestions about the community down below.
Minecraft does not natively support the SteamDeck controller. However, mods are always here to save the day. I recommend using [PrismLauncher](https://prismlauncher.org/download/steam-deck/) to launch the game. It has first class modding support, and is just easier to use with modding than the official launcher. `Steam Button > Power > Switch to Desktop` This will switch you to desktop mode. Once desktop mode has loaded, click the steam deck logo in the bottom left of the screen to open the "start menu". `Steam Button + x` to load the keyboard, and search for "Discover", clicking it once it has been found. In Discover, use the keyboard again to search for "Prism Launcher", and when it has been found, install it. Should take a minute or two. You should now be able to find Prism Launcher in the "start menu". If you cannot, restart the deck, and re-enter desktop mode afterwards. Launch Prism Launcher, it should get you to configure language etc first. If it asks you to select a Java version, select "17" (or whatever the highest is).  Click on accounts (1) and manage accounts. It will open the account manager screen. Add a Microsoft account (2) (or Mojang, if you haven't migrated), and follow its sign in steps. When you have signed in, you can create a new instance. There is a large "Add Instance" button. Click it. It will open the new instance dialog.  Make sure to select Fabric (2). Going with the default (starred) options should be good. Then press OK, which should create the instance for you. Right click on the new instance you just made, and select "Edit Instance" (1).  Switch to the "Mods" tab, and click "Download Mods" (2). Under the Modrinth tab, search for "Fabric API" and "Midnight Controls". Select each for download, then click "Review and Confirm", then "OK". It should install the mods for you.  You can now launch the instance. It should launch into the game. All going well, you should now be able to play the game entirely with the controller. You can change controller settings in game by going: `Options > Controls` then clicking the controller icon next to `Key Binds`.
