https://wind-blox.com/ Is what I use. Not perfect but does help. The tinnitus is just the standard “it still affects the cochlea, so don’t make it too loud”

Disappointing that they gave that charger- my current Shokz have micro-usb, so I always have a cable (or can easily get one).
I do like the situational awareness that the Shokz provide while cycling, the only catch is that wind flowing past them will cause noise (there are 3rd-party straps that attach to your helmet that helps somewhat with this, though still imperfect).
I think turning these up can still cause tinnitus if it’s too loud for too long, and wanting to turn them up happens is the environmental noise is too loud. But they’re still outstanding. I almost always have them in, even in social settings - playing music super-low.

The plural of anecdote is not data, and I lost a family member due to side effects of Covid. If nothing else, all the published data shows at least 500k died, just in the US. I’m glad your “elders” didn’t die (interesting phrasing), but one wonders if it was because of people who were masking up, etc. Were they vaxxed? Did they go to crowded places? Were they still crowded places during the pandemic?
I don’t believe you’re arguing in good faith.

Only a couple post-rock albums for me. But good on GIAA for releasing an album today! Including the others because hey, isn’t the old saying “math rock is just post rock with more Tapping?“ **shikimi** by te' (math) **Embers** by GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT **Mantles** by Layers in Lairs (math, asiwyfa/battles is my reference) **Girlfriends** by Girlfriends (tappy math) **Star Showers On The Euphrates** by *Ancients (so good) **Rosewood** by Kaguu
I’m fortunate enough to be able to support bands by buying their albums. Especially today, when Bandcamp doesn’t take a cut. Here’s my Math rock portion. shikimi by te' - Japanese instrumental post/Math Rock. Busy and fun. More on the rock side of things. Mantles by Layers in Lairs - like Battles and ASIWYFA had a kid. Bearcubbin-related, another new band to me. Girlfriends by Girlfriends - came really recommended. Tappy goodness. Alas, a one-shot. Rosewood by Kaguu - Math/Prog EP that’s upbeat and whimsical.

The truly horrifying part is that the guy who proposed it showed it worked, made people do it… and then when he died they stopped and the rates went back. He was committted to an asylum for his effort and died there 2 weeks later, due to…infection.
Title undersells it. There's an actual festival in the Netherlands this weekend, celebrating Pelagic Records bands. So there are performances by ASIWYFA (playing the entire new album), Oh Hiroshima, The Ocean (playing the entirety of Pelagic) and a ton more. Free livestream, here's Saturday's video.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNKIcVHQ56M. Sunday has The Ocean again, but also Ihsahn. I'm psyched to see Spurv, Briqueville, and EF. Tell your post-rock/post-metal/math-rock friends!
Parts remind me of Battles, but also Zefs Chasing Cara. Electronic-twinged math-rock.

Nightmare Green is definitely coming, but that’s been the plan for a while. And he’s been pretty up front that the god guys can’t possibly win. Which makes it harder to read, since were invested and want a good ending. Seems like it’ll be more like a Delta Green ending - push back the darkness as long as possible and celebrate the fight as long as you can.

Yeah, I know I’ve seen some bands release right before BCF to make the most of it.
twinkly math-pop with vocals. Guitar effects sometimes remind me of ASIWYFA. Surprisingly nice.
I have no idea why this is in my library, but I came across it trying to figure out which artists I listened to qualified as math rock, and these guys sound like a combination of Battles and Legos, at least this track does.
Saw this band at plus fest in Denton this past weekend. Very impressed with them. Hope y’all dig this!
Unsure where I came upon this, but thought I would share. Post rock with some horn, probably would file it under “crescendocore“, reminds me a bit of We Lost The Sea. Takes a bit to get started, but that last track is a monster.
Kudos to everyone at @AndysDenton for throwing an amazing day one of Plus Fest. I got to see Cloutchaser, Invalids, Space Corolla, Elders, Abelia, Donella Drive and more! Invalids put on a fantastic show ( I love tappy math rock, and several of the bands met that bar for me - the photo is of some triple-tapping action courtesy of Invalids) but I was super impressed with everyone. If you get the chance next time, do go! It’s a really small venue, great staff, and a lot of heart and hard work. Thanks y’all!
Just found out a couple of weeks ago that the band Invalids is going on tour starting this week! They are playing the entirety of Eunoia, at least at the show in Denton, Texas. I found them when Permanence came out, so I’m looking forward to it I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of the vocals, but it definitely is tappy math-rock, which is my go-to. Hope some of y’all can make the various shows. And the show in Denton also has Clout Chaser, so it ought to be interesting. :)
No real evidence, just an encounter with what was probably a black bear.
Nice compositions, good tapping, great instrumentals and shredding. I think this counts as djent/prog-metal, posting it here first. How the heck have I missed this?

I am looking at these two, trying to find a deal on the Pro 2022 that makes it close to the price of the 13" 2024 Air. Right now the "deals" are still in the $999 range for it, as opposed to $800 for the Air. Which sucks - seems like the 2022 is still better, but $200 is $200. I have a pro 10.5" now, but the lure of bigger has finally won out, years later. Trying to see if I'm missing anything - on paper the 2022 is still better, even if older. Advantages of the Pro 2022: - FaceID, not TouchID - Promotion display (120hz vs the Air's 60hz) - can run external display Advantages of the Air 2024: - Cheaper - Newer - supported longer? - ? Anything else?
Don’t know how I’ve never come across this, but this made me laugh and cry and nod appreciatively.
Another bouncy & tappy release by Marco.

Fantastic show, and sold out! Definitely see, and their opening tonight was Standards, also fantastic!
Production values are high, some interesting additions to the genre. Like Slay the Spire, but with Elder Gods
More on the crescendo-core end of the spectrum, but really good. The symphonic bits are a delight.
I think I found this album due to The Post-Everything Collective monthly round up. Some nice happy(and tappy) instrumental math-rock to start 2024 with.
Curious what everyone thinks the top album of the year is. Personally, I found Syncatto, which is the flamenco/math/(metal?) band I didn’t know I needed. I really dug Gabba’s “Recollections”. “Sonorous Faith pt 2” was just as triumphant and joyful as part 1, but maybe that’s post-rock? OH! Night Verses! Unsure if that’s math or djent or what, but hot damn. Shout out to “Oh The Ezekiel”, enjoyable one-man band.
Woohoo! I honestly did not think I’d ever get a chance to see Elephant Gym live!

Decided to play around with Exuro tonight. The turret itself seems cool, but what I was REALLY hoping to find was an ungodly Firestarter Chem Launcher build. My current build doesn't t do a ton of damage (260k), in part because I run Creeping death and Eclipse Protocol, which means they're on fire for a while, which means others can kill them while they're running around. Getting everything together for comparison is tougher than I thought. Skill tiers, specialization, skill damage vs fire damage, etc. I was originally hoping I could use Eclipse + NJB + Exuro, but that only gets me to 249.6 (but will spread for 15 seconds) with 1.3m armor, running firewall. Which is not any better than my current Eclipse + Fire + Vile build which does 260k, so... oh well. What I've got so far Specialization: Firewall * St Elmo's Engine (shock) * Exuro mask (status effects) * Exuro kneepads (status effects) * Exuro holster (status effects) * Empress backpack with Creeping Death (skill dmg; status effects) * Empress chestpiece (Trauma so it kicks off bleeding, skill dmg/) * Empress gloves (skill dmg; status effects; Armor) 5 skill tiers, 913k armor. When it procs (body shot, no trauma), I'm doing 321.6k fire (303 once it eats through armor), 49k bleeding, and the fire lasts a little over 13 seconds (bleeding lasts a touch longer). Obviously Creeping Death only procs every 15 seconds, and trauma is 30 sec refresh for bleeding. But you can also blind them, further keeping the fun times going. Curious what y'all think. Thanks.
Every summer, outside Mason Texas, approximately 4 million pregnant female Mexican Free -tailed bats come to give birth. Over the next couple of months, the babies grow, start flying with their moms, and eventually fly home. Not quite the size of Bracken, but at that time of year it’s one of the largest bat colonies in the world. https://www.nature.org/en-us/get-involved/how-to-help/places-we-protect/eckert-james-river-bat-cave-preserve/ It’s an interesting place to get to. If you’re in a normal car, you need to pay attention to rain, as part of the directions are “turn off the paved road, drive 8 miles, ford a small river, then drive another mile or so”. The road is… not great, especially the last few hundred yards. But the bat flight is amazing. Seating is close you can get brushed by them. It’s a fantastic couple of hours.
I'm looking at feats for my Monk. Last night we were fighting the phase spiders and the spiderlings came in. Because we hadn't spread out enough, all of them came towards our group, so they were within melee range of me. I'm wondering if I would've gotten a reaction attack against each one (so... 6?), or if it's a once-per-turn thing. Thanks.
A fantastic show. Definitely worth seeing.
The video for one of the new tracks. But another stellar album. Still instrumental, still some crazy drumming and playing, still some nice atmospherics and quiet bits. https://nightverses.bandcamp.com/album/every-sound-has-a-color-in-the-valley-of-night-part-one And that title had me wondering how long until Part 2. Enjoy!
I have “mark read when scrolled past” turned on. And now I have (1) posts within the past day or two, and (2) posts older than a month (since I joined about a month ago). Is there any way to mark ALL older posts read? It’s weird because I’ll be reading a post from a few hours ago, and then suddenly be reading news from a while ago, and I’m sick of hearing about the old news. Thanks!
I’ll be honest, I got hooked on Bandcamp Friday when it started, and by extension Bandcamp, and I’ve found FAR too much good music. Why Bandcamp Friday? All the money goes to the artist, I can listen to the whole album a couple of times ( critical for prog), some albums are “pay what you want”, and there are a ton of gems. And I want to support the artists more that streaming will. I want more of this! Normally I don’t preorder, so I’ll buy them next month, but there’s a couple I want to shine a light on. Specifically prog (i dig djent/math/post/prog metal but that’s separate) I’m planning on getting: * Agusa - Prima Materia. Finnish folky psych prog. * Jordsjø - Salighet. More folky Finnish prog * Maxophone - La Fabbrica delle Nuvole. 70s Italian Symphonic by one of the classic bands of the genre. It sounds like im catching up on revivals two months running, after getting the wonderful Contaminazione 2.0 last month. * The Chronicles of Father Robin - The Songs and Tales of Airoea (retro) - go read the back story and listen to the track they’ve shared. And FWIW, one of the members is in Wobbler. :) * Earthside - Let The Truth Speak. I think this counts as prog and not metal. Loved their last album, looking forward to this. What are y’all looking T?
If you like retro/folk-with-some-psychedelic Prog, this will probably be a treat.

Old, new, don’t really care. What’s in heavy rotation for you this week?! I’ve been listening to the tappy suggestions I got last week, and I also found “Dora The Destroyerl which is a nice djent/math/ mix,and I like the new album by Former Animals, but $10 for 17 minutes seems a bit dear (tell me I’m wrong, that’s fine, I feel the same way about Strawberry Girls, too). That said, I’ve bought an EP and album of Syncatto (holy crap I dig me some flamenco rock) and am loving it! Still going through the other suggestions!
Trying to find more stuff like Zefs Chasing Cara, standards, LITE, Totorro, Tom’s Story, Syncatto, Gabba. (Maybe invalids would count, too, at least the instrumental version ;). Covet is an obvious. What else? Thanks!
