sad that we're at this point. when I was young I loved Pokemon and imagined where it could go in the future. was SO EXCITED to hear pokemon go announced. apart from a week or two of social interactions when everyone had got the game all at once, it had no longevity and that was that. it could have been so beautiful!

Maybe I'm missing something here but isn't Disney a great example of a style having ownership? One that Disney aggressively defend too. Difference being an individual person doesn't have the resources of all of Disney so they can't do much to defend their art... idk i'm rambling.

Ok. I sorta get it but yeah as a vegan I gotta say vegetarianism kinda annoys me a bit just because like…. Why? Animals still suffer and get killed for vegetarian products so what’s ones reasoning behind being vegetarian? It doesn’t help environmental causes being vegetarian as animals still there to pollute and it clearly doesn’t tackle the animal cruelty problem. I do have the benefit of living somewhere I can easily get great vegan fake meat etc so I understand being vegetarian in this case but only with an aim toward veganism, in which case shared group makes sense. That’s where im at, I don’t mean it to be an offensive or aggressive position, it inherently feels it somehow obviously the world being so opposed to my view and me being so sure that the rest of the world just don’t yet see their psychopathy (just how nowadays it’s pretty clear slavery is wrong, 200 years ago peoples opinions less sure…)

What is the debate? They’re two quite different things really, aren’t there two communities?

This is great. I am however struggling to navigate to these on my own instance. Is there any way on the fediverse to have links that always open on whichever instance you are on so you can sub from there?

Yeah I think kindness and positivity are a bit too rare online, seems to be prioritised here!
I’m not from New Zealand but I do enjoy trees and shrooms so hiiii

Do you or anyone know, how does one open the link you shared in their own instance? As in, so I’m still logged in on beehaw and can comment etc. tia

Hello!!! Still getting the hang of this, looks like my picture posts aren’t going through but excited to be a part of a new community

But you don’t need to right? You just access other instances through your own? (I actually don’t understand at all but I think this is correct)

Nuhuh, beehaws active user count and seemingly inclusive nature drew me in

I’m still a bit confused how you browse other instances on whichever you’re using and how it all interlinks. Maybe because I’m trying to use Mlem and it’s not all there yet. Lots to learn!!
I tried logging into other lemmy instances using the account I made for beehaw and it seems I have the same issue as you it just spins forever. But I’m not sure if what I’m doing is correct..!

Ok I think I understand better thanks for taking the time to explain. One thing that I don’t fully understand- I have a mastodon login, a beehaw login, and a kbin login. Do I need all of these? If you want to interact with eg a kbin post as a beehaw user do you login with beehaw account on kbin or do you interact with kbin posts via the beehaw site and ui?

As someone new here trying to understand things… what’s the difference between kbin and lemmy? I thought I saw in one place they’re the same but it seems not? Haha so much to learn, big noob here

Without Reddit killing these APIs and the particularly big post from Apollo just recently I wouldn’t be here! Still trying to learn how to navigate smoothly and such but it’s kinda exciting starting on something fresh, I was already tiring of Reddit
