Thanks, I was able to do exactly what I wanted.
So, this is my situation: I've forked [this repository](https://github.com/prasanthrangan/hyprdots) which contains dotfile and script for hyprland. I changed some files and now, if I want to sync all the commits made on the original repository to my repository github says "This branch has conflicts that must be resolved". My question is: can I merge only the commits that don't conflict with my files? What else can I do?
Basically the title, I want to use my laptop, which uses Arch Linux, and my tablet, which is an android one, as an external monitor for my desktop pc.

Have you tried hyprland with animations on?
I recently purchased a 2nd hand Thinkpad X1 Carbon with i7-7600U, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD and a 1440p screen. I installed EndeavorOS on it and I noticed, in plasma 6, that the scroll in Firefox is a bit sluggish; after I installed hyprland and, with a lot of effect active like blur, it does feel sluggish too. Is that normal for this type of hardware? Is there some settings I could tweak to improve the performances?

I think people on lemmy should start using the "/s" more, even if it's a reddit legacy

You can watch YouTube video in mpv (just launch mpv with the link the video you want to watch) and, since mpv support HDR, you can watch HDR YouTube video on plasma 6. See this for how to set up mpv to play HDR video.

Well, so at this point I'll wait the stable release, thanks.
After some researches I find two ways to have HDR pass through on Linux x86: Libreelec and kodi "stand alone session". For kodi I find [this thread](https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?pid=3139981), so I installed [kodi-gles](https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/kodi-gles/) on my Arch system; then I started a tty and launched kodi with kodi --windowing=gbm but the interface doesn't work, it seems stuck, but I can go beck to the tty. For Libreelec I downloaded the latest generic image for x86 system and I flashed it on a 8GB USB stick (I tried with balena etcher and Ventoy). So I tried the run and live option but with both the system is stuck on the Libreelec splash page (in the run case the system is stuck after the installation). Can anyone help me? My PC specs: CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x GPU: RX 7800XT Os: EndevourOs

Arch btw: it is much stable that many Linux users think, there are a ton of guide to do/repair things thanks to Arch Wiki, and, last but not least, it has the AUR repository in which you can find basically all software you will ever need; the only malus the AUR repository has is that you have to compile every software you install with it (even if sometimes they are precompiled).
P.S. if you want a "ready-to-go" arch distro, install EndevourOs and set the btrfs file system with timeshift. Here's a guide.

How can I install and run Steam games on external drive? Because I tried to format the drive in ExFAT, NTFS and btrfs (the same of my machine) but with a filesystem I can install the game but it doesn't start at all, and with another I can't add the drive as other location on steam

Cross posted from: https://feddit.it/post/1114995 So, basically I want to sync with my pc the Yuzu save data. This save data are in the Android/data folder which is only accessible with root ,that I have, but SyncThing can't open that folder because the app hasn't root permission. At the end what should I do to sync that folder?

Ciao a tutti.

Thanks to everyone who commented. After all the suggestions I'm still a bit uncertain on which distro I will use, but now I have basically 2 distro in my mind: Debian and OpenSuse. I will do my researches. Thanks again to everyone, this community really rocks.
Maybe what I'm looking for is the holy grail, but what do you guys suggest as a Distro with a good balance between stability and up-to-date packages?

Do you use Wayland with Nvidia card? I always had tearing in browsers, even if I set the Wayland mode in the browser. Do you have/had the same issue?
