Ah, wasn’t aware Lemmy was saving the whole file uncompressed. I’m linking directly to Flick so I figured they were hosting it all. Not familiar with the architecture on this platform. You would be surprised as this camera body is actually not the high resolution one in this lineup! Thanks for the info.

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.film/post/590446 > Taken 08/14 in Central Florida. This mature crane and junior are part of a non-migratory trio I see on the nature trail behind my house almost daily. For those who don't know about their call, I'd liken it to a metallic-sounding rooster! Over time they let me get close with some patience and proper positioning. This was shot with a 70-200mm but they have also given me some 35mm portraits in the past!

    Metallic Starling at Nest

Taken 08/12 at Disney's Animal Kingdom (sorry - not traveling to Asia anytime soon). Quite fitting as someone mentioned to me these birds look like the henchmen for a Disney villain! They build interesting hanging nests and I find their sheen and eye color to be eye-catching.

    Christmas in July

Not actually taken in July but it's catchy! I went on a longish trip up to see snow for the first time around the holidays. When I came back home to South Florida, the heat was incredible and there was a wonderful blue sky juxtaposed with all of the Christmas trees everywhere. I liked how I could see myself in the ornament, too.

    Wavebreak

I had an idea while visiting Crescent Beach here in North Florida, so of course I found myself wading too far out into the ocean, holding my camera over my head and hopping over waves to keep it dry. Luckily there was a sandbar out there and some nice waves breaking on it. I liked the light and dark split coming from one wave and the reflections from an otherwise calm ocean.

I really, really love it. I spent a few months on a gifted Canon Rebel T6 before I committed to the hobby and they are absolutely worlds apart. Besides the image quality and the ability to shoot great video (already done a few family trip videos), the eye auto focus is almost flawless. In the limited time to set up for certain shots that are happening it's a dream to not have to worry much about that. Lets me focus on just the right aperture and other settings.

Thanks! Sony a7iv was used to shoot. The lens I'm rolling with for everything is the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM. Once I knew this hobby wasn't a phase, I chose to go with one quality fast prime to hone my composition and settings with. Barring the occasional shot I can't get due to a lack of zoom, I really love what this combo has been doing for me!

For processing with HDR, I now find myself going to Luminar for the initial merge and then splitting contrast for shadows / mids / highlights there. Then I take everything else to Lightroom.

    Sunset Lake

I'm happy to finally be staying at a place with some options for a nice sunset view! I'm starting to experiment with HDR now that I have a tripod as well. I felt that really helped me bring out the details in the highlights while preserving the nice colors from the night side of things. Still not sure on the best bracketing to try but I've been liking the look of 0.3 increments in groups of 9. I want to try that with some focus stacking as well at some point...but I think the clouds would have to be pretty still for that!

Has anyone here tried these couch speakers out? https://www.lovesac.com/sactionals-with-stealthtech-sound-charge.html

I engaged with it a bit at a local Lovesac store and it seemed cool, but you know how it is with all the noise in a mall. I used to be an audiophile and mellowed out, but that doesn't mean I want something that sucks! The marketing looks ridiculous, but some reviews I've found are praising the soundstage and it is hard to know what is a paid review these days. The big draw here is that all of the speakers would be hidden. My wife frankly does not want to see them in our living area (especially any wires). I already have a whole Hue synced light setup to the TV so I figure I'll happily compromise there, hah.

What I liked - visual quality and lighting with that gradient into darkness. Tattoo on the finger is interesting and I felt naturally drawn to it.

I was having a tough time getting a certain emotion or vibe at a glance from the expression. Felt cropped in a bit tight for me personally.

I've been using a pair of Sennheiser HD 800 for probably 13 years now. I'd rave about them all day if I could, but they have such a great soundstage and also have let me dabble into a lot of different random creator hobbies because they are a great reference for mixing. Comfortable to wear for hours and no phyiscal / listening fatigue.

There is a decent aftermarket available for replacement ear pads, cables, etc. as well and I was able to refresh various bits from constant daily wear over the years at a low cost. I've seen the newer variants and just can't seem to justify moving away from these yet. If you can get a used pair in good condition then I think the price point is incredible.

Unpopular opinion - I think there's almost no audible difference between DACs once they are shielded properly. I used to route through a Schiit Bifrost Multibit into a Valhalla 2 with some rolled tubes but now I basically do everything through one Scarlett Focusrite 18i20. There is a difference in the initial volume the amp would push out and the distortion from the tubes, but there's no way I could describe any difference between the two DACs at the same volume and it is way more convenient to have it all in one place. Yes, I have the Thriller SACD ; ).

There's something inherently sassy and amusing about flamingos for me...right down to that squawk. So of course I loved this guy looking at me while he walked away. More processing than I usually do but I really liked the look of the split tones here.
