I've installed it myself now and your post helped a bunch! Loving it so far, it's much faster and I haven't really had trouble with any google apps so far as I just install an alternative. It's actually really easy to find APK files online these days as well :)

Thanks for posting! I have a Samsung S6 lite and it is so slow to boot up or do anything and there is so much bloat it's unreal, battery lasts for like a day in standby. Think I'll give this a shot, seems a lot nicer :)

Oh god, they put Gollum in this game too...
I have not been able to login to my Lemmy account on the sh.itjust.works instance as of this afternoon. I keep crashing and getting the error: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "Active" Is there anything I can do to fix this or is it just a problem with the new Lemmy update?

No idea as I haven't had any problems with them yet, but the case doesn't seem like you could take it apart very easily :/
Bought these earbuds originally in 2019 and I have not been disappointed. I have tried several other types and brands but none of them come close to the sound quality or durability of these bad boys! The noise cancellation is also fantastic on them as well as the battery life. They're a bit hard to track down now as Samsung have stopped selling them and only sell the newer versions, unfortunately. Be aware that some of the newer versions do not fit airtight in the ears, which means no noise cancellation. I've also recently tried Google Buds and the difference between the audio quality is night and day. Where the Google Buds are tinny with no noise cancellation, the Samsung Buds are deep and rich, with fantastic noise cancellation. Overall, highly recommended!
I'm just wondering if there is some sort of alternative to Tiktok on the Fediverse? I understand that something like Tiktok needs a critical mass of users, but just curious if someone has attempted it?

“The problem with this one is it’s not going to change anything."
Is there going to be an option for push notifications on the future? I don't care about push notifications on most social media, but it's nice to see when I get replies and DMs on here.

Haha right? It's not worth it! But yeah, I feel like it's just a stressful way to live when the other option is to just grab a cord and plug in before falling asleep...
My wife's phone dies every. single. day. and I don't know why she doesn't just charge it at night. I'm just wondering how people live like this 😅

Currently almost finished of Jade City and it's just interesting enough to keep me going. Very interesting take on a magic system being like a drug, but this one is mostly about political intrigue.
If you wanted a story about an alternate history Japan with drug-magic powered Yakuza clans, then this book is for you!

Wow, I hadn't even heard about the Twitter DMs, that's really ridiculous.
And I think federated sites like Lemmy and kbin are the future of the internet, I mean, no ads, decentralized, and I mean we were already making all of the content on Reddit so it's not like we need them for anything when we have Lemmy.

You're probably right, I wonder what I'm suppose to do to fix it. Is it just being aware and trying to correct it while walking?

I just don't get why people work against their own interests, people are just so weird
Very interesting history of the singular 'they'.
BreakNeckJim 1 year ago • 100%
Haha yeah, I feel like we all saw that coming though.
Until people start to really migrate to a federated alternative these big companies are going to keep having control.

I'm really hoping he does see that Reddit is nothing without its users and treating them badly does have consequences.
It would be a nice lesson for all of these huge companies to learn.

Nope, not at all. Is there some more long term effects to pronation or am I fine just going about how I normally do?
What are people's thoughts on shoes made to fix pronation? I used to have a pair of new balances that were supposed to help with pronation, but now that I have a new pair of shoes, my pronation has gotten worse again. Does pronation really matter in running or is it just one of those things that they use to sell more expensive shoes?

I feel for you, I used to live in a very mountainous and beautiful area but now I'm in an area with nothing much to look at while running and I have found it's really made running feel more like a chore again :/

The first thing my brother does when he buys a book is cracks the spine 🤢
Haha, it used to bother me but now I've started just using my books, there's not really any sense in trying to keep them in perfect condition, I'd rather be able to throw it into a backpack and read it on a beach 🙂

Just finished Piranesi and wow, what a beautiful, mysterious book. Very ethereal with some amazing prose and characters.
As long as you're okay with being confused for the first 1/3, the book is really satisfying.

The first one is probably the weakest but the series as a whole is very solid. Very genre defying as well, it's not really what you expect at first

I did find the mountains of madness very boring. I also loved the tomb and thought Herbert West - Reanimator was also very good.
Some of his stuff is way better than others, so if you're not vibing with one story, don't feel bad about trying another!
Some other good reads are The Nameless City and The Picture in the House.

The name of the wind is absolutely one of the best fantasy books ever written, the only thing is that the author is not likely to finish the series anytime soon. The second book in the triology came out in 2011 and still has no date for the third to be released :/

I think if anybody can get VR to be adopted by the masses it would be Apple. However, at this price I just don't think it's possible for the majority of people, even Apple Fanboys, to be able to afford.
If they had released this for $1500 I think that price point would be a lot more enticing for people, especially those who haven't tried VR before.
BreakNeckJim 1 year ago • 100%
That's interesting and I never really thought about that before. I guess the only problem would be displaying the VR and AR elements so that they remain stationary relative to the person driving the car.

It's unbelievable how's user hostile all of these major site have become. I deleted my 11 year old Reddit account today and while it hurt a little it's important that we send a message and not use Reddit at least until they repeal this bullshit.
