Tuesday Opponent Preview: The Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks (0-1) vs Detroit Lions (1-0)
Ford Field, Sunday, Sept 17th, 1pm on FOX

Last week:
Lions 21 - Chiefs 20
Rams 30 - Seahawks 13

Last Meeting:
Oct 2nd, 2022 @ Ford Field: Seattle 48 - Lions 45: A barn burner that we dropped in that 1-6 start. Our defense has taken a gigantic step forward since that game. Seattle is in for a shock.

In week 1 Seattle got Stafford-smashed by the Rams. Stafford was 24/38 for 334 yards in a script we're well familiar with. The Rams allowed very little pressure on the QB. Meanwhile, Seattle had both their starting OTs go down with injuries and the offense just sputtered. Geno Smith was 16/24 for 116 yard in a performance we're all too familiar with in lean years. Has the Geno Smith Cinderella magic run out? Seattle's defense didn't look great. No pressure on Stafford, zero sacks or interceptions. How much of all this is just week 1 flux and how much of this is a trend? Just have to play the games and find out.

Seattle Injuries:
Devon Witherspoon (Rookie CB) - Questionable with a strained hammy.
Charles Cross (OT) - Questionable with turf toe.
Abraham Lucas (OT) - Questionable with knee soreness.
All these guys are a wait and see as the week progresses. If both Seattle's starting tackles are out or playing hurt, Hutch and company are going to feast.

Detroit Injuries:
Emmanuel Moseley (CB) - Questionable with an ACL tear from last year. Likely not playing.
Brian Branch (S) - Questionable for week 2. Left the Chiefs game with cramps. Likely playing.

Outlook:
This looks and smells like a Detroit win. If the Seahawks can't generate pressure on the QB, Goff will feast. With both Seattle's OTs dinged, it is looking like a long, long day for Geno Smith. If Seattle is relying on last year's game tape to break down the Lions, they are in for a rude shock. On the other hand, if Seattle can get DK Metcalf and Kennith Walker III going, it could be a problem for us.
