Any good dedicated VPN providers?

I am looking for a VPN with the following specs... - Is either only a dedicated VPN provider (Does not offer shared VPNs) or is both a shared VPN provider and offers dedicated VPN servers - Low price (If possible) - Dedicated VPN server offers port forwarding (Many ports available, not just a few) - Private (Zero logs, good juristriction) - Multi-hop. Can connect to shared VPN server and hop to dedicated VPN server. (If VPN provider offers static VPN servers) - Linux (GUI prefferred, CLI will do) - Accepts bitcoin or other crypto for payment I want to host servers behind a VPN. Do not want to use a VPS since the VPS is not under my control being off-site. However running a server at home without a VPN will expose my home IP address. I am not going to be doing anything illegal nor will I be doing any torrenting.

Anyone have experience running Mullvad on an AX1800 Flint router?

We’ve recently got a decent fibre gigabit connection, so after a lot of reading I bought a gl.i ax1800 Flint router to run Mullvad on, rather than having it on every device individually. The setup was simple, and while I know that it will impact speed to an extent, it seems to be really limiting the connection. Like to about 13mbps, which is slower than my almost non-existent 4g connection. From what I’ve read, I should expect the flint to be capable of giving me about 4/5ths of my connection speed, so on ours I’d been expecting something in the mid-hundreds, as I’m seeing 800mbps or so just on the cat 7 from the modem. It’s almost certainly my fault, or something I’ve overlooked in the setup, so any help or pointers would be much appreciated.

Moving away from Surfshark

My Surfshark sub is almost up and I'm looking for my best option. I'm so glad this little community has popped up, as looking for reviews on Reddit and elsewhere online is next to impossible, since every review is simply an ad in disguise. I need a VPN primarily for streaming, so need it to be fast, and obviously security and privacy are key concerns too. I've narrowed down my choices to Mullvad, Proton or sticking with Surfshark. Surfshark has been ok, but I assumed there must be better out there. What are everyone's thoughts on the best performing service at the moment? Thanks.

VPN reviews that aren't paid-for articles

Searching for VPN yields many results, but most are SEO-crap with their sponsor company being pushed to the top. If you were on /r/vpn and /r/privacy years ago, you might remember the "that one privacy guy/site". The site owner used to do VPN reviews, with commentary on topics as speed, ease of use, support, etc., without resorting to typical buzzwords like "military grade encryption". There was a table with all of their findings so readers like us could sort or compare between providers by priorities. There also was a similar section for email hosts (without reviews). The site owner, unfortunately, went offline and the site itself was sold to a company as far as I remember, but it was a breath of fresh air of unadulterated web 1.0. Do any of you know anything similar that is updated/active today? I am comfortable with my current VPN provider, but it's always nice to be aware of other options.

How does NordVPN P2P Servers work?

Are the P2P servers the only NordVPN servers with dynamic port forwarding (UPnP) enabled?

Get a Spanish HBO Max subscription in the USA

Weird request, but I'm interested in watching Adventure Time in Castilian Spanish, and I don't mind paying to stream it. I live in the US with a Max subscription, but Adventure Time is only available in English on it. HBO Max still exists in Europe, and apparently the Spanish translation is available there. I've got NordVPN and am connected to a Spanish server. I can install the HBO Max app and create an account, but when it comes to pay for the subscription it won't take any of my credit cards and Google Pay says everything is unavailable to use "in my country." I've tried buying a prepaid card with 10€ from dundle.com, but nothing will go through. How do you go about making payments to geoblocked services?

VPN and port forwarding

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/969323 I am looking to buy a VPN subscription, and im interested in getting one that allows port forwarding. Found a few that still allows this, including pure VPN and air VPN which seem to offer good value for money, at least on the the long term plans. Any feedback on these two? I used to have nordvpn, and used it for 3 years, and once that subscription ran out, have been using mullvad so far. Performance wise mullvad hasnt disappointed me or anything, but now im looking to find one that allows port forwarding. I also have a doubt regarding the whole port forwarding thing, does the VPN having this feature enable to do it even if my ISP doesnt allow port forwarding? From the videos and articles I read, VPN port forwarding is just something you do inside their native apps and such, so if the ISP hasnt enabled port forwarding for me (which I know it hasnt, because tried to get jellyfin working the other day, and couldnt get the ports to open even after setting everything up in my router), will I still be able to do it? I tried searching around with this query, but didnt really find anything.

Proton VPN (linux) and port forwarding question

I'm thinking of moving from Mullvad to ProtonVPN mainly for the port forwarding, but I have some questions. The documentation on the ProtonVPN website is dated and I don't know if it's still accurate. Can you forward multiple ports simultaneously using the ProtonVPN linux app? The documentation also seems to suggest that the forwarded port will change every time I disconnect or reconnect the VPN, necessitating a change in my (ahem) clients' configurations, is that actually the case? If it's not possible to port forward multiple ports at once, can the linux app do split tunneling of my Plex server that's started at boot time? Thanks to anyone who can answer any of these questions.

Anyone using PIA?

I just need a VPN to download Linux ISOs from Torrent and newsgroups. PIA seems to be $80 for 3 years and they have been around for a long time. Some post are suggesting that they belong to a company with government ties and shit. Should I be concerned? There is any other VPN in that price range?

Handshake for peer did not complete: What is blocking my Wireguard connection to Surfshark?

I'm using a Surfshark VPN and want to connect to Surfshark via the Wireguard protocol. I have installed the Wireguard program, downloaded the configuration file from the Surfshark website with the keys generated by Surfshark. However, when i press 'Activate' it keeps initiating a handshake but never completes. Things i have tried: - Opening ports on windows firewall - Googling - Forwarding ports on router - Changing settings in the config file What am i missing?

[HELP] Openvpn with multiple .conf files

Since /etc/openvpn gets scanned on boot for .conf files to use openvpn to connect to, can I just rename all of my .ovpn files as .conf and it'll pick a random one each time (or at least go in alphabetical order until it finds one that works)?

Best vpn to replace mullvad ?

Mullvad is removing port forwarding (https://mullvad.net/fr/blog/2023/5/29/removing-the-support-for-forwarded-ports/). Is there a credible alternative ?

Favorite VPN?

I don't see any other posts so I'll start. What's your go-to VPN service? Why? For me, currently it's Mullvad. Good speed, easy to use, and I can pay for it privately. Second choice would be Proton. Third is my VPN on my VPS. Very secure, not at all private.
