Splitwise Balance Widget

## [Download](https://gist.github.com/fer0n/f9b64e71be2f53293587aa20ece4c33b) Has to run in the app once for the setup, the timer shows how long it’s been since the last refresh. It only uses scriptable, no shortcuts, but I guess that’s close enough.

Can't add an array in Get URL contents for API request

Hello, I am trying to create a shortcut to use the TubeArchivist api to archive YouTube videos. I've tried to send the request as text but it doesn't work because it expects an array I guess? I've gotten the request to work using CURL on the command line but when I try to add a value to an array in shortcuts the field is locked and won't accept any input. I've done some searching across the wider internet for how to construct arrays in shortcuts but no matter what I attempt that field is always locked. Can it not accept any inputs? Confused how to actually put my structured data into it. The URL that comes before it is the local host and port of the TubeArchivist server API endpoint. ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/d89ea5a0-cf41-4f0a-a6f9-8f801f143ba4.png)

iOS Shortcut Wishlist: Instant Offline Dictation to Clipboard, Live Transcription [OpenAI Whisper]

_Does this exist?_ I would love to activate an iOS shortcut that instantly begins dictation, allows me to tap to stop dictation, and then pastes the transcript into a specified text field. For an added benefit, it would be great to view the live transcript to help maintain my train of thought. I would like it to use the best available free offline transcription software (e.g. OpenAI Whisper) as well. Inspirations include: - Whisper shortcut by [Giacomo Melzi](https://giacomomelzi.com/transcribe-audio-messages-iphone-ai) - online, very inexpensive, but not offline/live. Requires OpenAI API key ($0.006 / minute, thirty-six cents an hour) - [Ecco Dictate](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ecco-dictate/id6474762093) app - offline (private!), but not live nor able to be opened and autostart via shortcut (Here I’ll mention… If you have never used dictation beyond Apple’s built-in offering, it may be hard for you to imagine just how much you are missing 🙂 If Apple doesn’t catch up by iOS 18 I will send them such a firm yet polite piece of feedback!) Note: Because my ideal solution is all but guaranteed to require an app and not just a shortcut, I’m mainly wondering if there is an app that supports shortcuts as described. Planning to reach out to the author of Ecco Dictate, perhaps after checking with you friendly folks. Thank you! --- UPDATE: Near perfection found. Free offline OpenAI Whisper transcription to clipboard for easy pasting in any app! ![](https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/1c4db180-73c1-4bd3-871d-76a2aed8a60b.jpeg) [Aiko](https://sindresorhus.com/aiko#tips) (link is to the shortcuts the developer provides) (Apparently if you’re not on iOS 17.5 you need to use a workaround when launching these shortcuts using Siri by voice… Have to add Dismiss Siri And Continue + Open App action and have it Open Shortcuts.) All that’s missing is live transcription, which is available with online/paid transcription apps but no offline apps I’ve found on iOS. (MacWhisper does feature live offline transcription in any field, but only on Mac for $30+.)

Shortcut Trigger Source

Is there a way to know which app triggered the shortcut call? For instance, if I share files from the Files app, I could reference something to see “Files” or “iCloud Drive”. When it’s Mail, I’d see “Mail”. Etc. I am trying to have one universal shortcut for file input but I need to specialize some actions depending on the app that provided the files. I checked “Shortcut Input” but there aren’t a lot of choices to evaluate. “File Path” is inconsistent in what it will show: executing from the Shortcuts app and picking a file will shows “iCloudDrive/FolderName/Filename.ext” but sharing from the Files app will just show the filename.ext. Sharing from Mail shows the file content.

Backup All Shortcuts https://routinehub.co/shortcut/10559/

I found this nifty [shortcut](https://routinehub.co/shortcut/10559/) to backup all shortcuts. You can set it to an automation and do a rolling limited number of backups on a set schedule, like 10 zip files max, backed up weekly. There’s a problem though. There’s an error on the Make Archive step. I stripped the shortcut down to Get All Shortcuts, Make .zip of My Shortcuts. The error persists. I’m not sure why it’s not working unless this is an existing Shortcuts bug at the moment. Anyone know?

Multiple Apple Note Tags

Anyone know how to tag an Apple Note with multiple tags? I can create the note, append to it, and tag it with a variable or straight text but I cannot figure how to add multiple tags. I tried a list, dictionary values, comma separated, new lines. I even tried looping over Add Tag action with a single tag but everything results in an error on trying to tag multiple times to the note. Let me know if you’ve figured it out!

Get YouTube share URL sans tracking query param https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/51caa80475614a61a3c31764ba2f2f99

When you copy the URL for sharing in YouTube, it adds a query parameter now, `so=blah`, for tracking the source. This removes that. It could of course be smarter and stop at either the end or the next parameter, but since I haven’t seen any extras, I just remove everything after.

You can use an automation to toggle rotation lock for photo, video and streaming apps

Just wanted to remind the Lemmy community that you can enable and disable portrait mode on a per app basis so you don’t need to manually do it and open the control center each time. MacRumors has a guide for those interested in doing this: [Link](https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/auto-toggle-orientation-lock-iphone/)

Create a customizable, feature-rich Apple Reminder for a single file. | RoutineHub https://routinehub.co/shortcut/17360

![Mocked-up iPhone 15 Pro screenshot of an example result of my File Reminder shortcut.](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/83fb9f5e-152b-4f31-8849-aebcf6f8aaf9.png) I created this Shortcut to address a long-present and costly need of my own: **interlinked, visible task management per single files of all types**. It has begun to assist me in slowing the accumulation of redundant/duplicate/forgotten/lost files across all of my various file systems. Out of the box, this version requires [**Toolbox Pro**](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/toolbox-pro-for-shortcuts/id1476205977) for its whole function. ### Video Demo - [HardLimit](https://video.hardlimit.com/w/2nCTWX1FdQSWXEtXszADci) - [YouTube (Shorts)](https://youtube.com/shorts/cJwCNlTULbo) - [Imgur](https://imgur.com/a/yFx4W3K) Shown are two methods: 1. Running the Shortcut independently (which will show a file picker.) 2. Running the Shortcut from the Share Sheet. ### Setup Steps 1. Choose native Apple Files tag(s) to attach to the input file. (Optional) 2. Customize behavior of the [Change Case Action](https://matthewcassinelli.com/actions/change-case). (Optional) 3. Customize the output format of the [File Size detail](https://matthewcassinelli.com/actions/format-file-size). (Optional) 4. Choose a List in Apple Reminders in which to add the Reminder result. (Optional) 5. Choose whether or not the Reminder result will include an Alert. (Required) 6. Choose the priority of the Reminder result. (Optional) 7. Choose whether or not the Reminder result will be flagged. (Required) 8. Choose tags (in Apple Reminders) to attach to the Reminder result. (Optional)

Happy birthday message 🎂 https://routinehub.co/shortcut/16905/

Yeah I know, this might be taking things too far. But I got tired of typing the same variations over and over, so I decided to generate it from a few custom snippets. You can use [this optional shortcut](https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/80d9b11215d543719d5d9efe62b40859) together with [Pushcut](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/pushcut-shortcuts-automation/id1450936447?l=en-GB) to get a notification when it’s someone’s birthday. You can set it up to generate the message when tapping on the Pushcut notification. ——— It currently works with WhatsApp or messages. It generates a message with three parts: - "Happy birthday" (randomly selects a variation of it, you can customize these) - "Tanja" (chooses the first name or nickname if you have one set for the contact) - "🎂🤗" (also customizable ending, chooses randomly) So the message here would be: "Happy birthday Tanja 🎂🤗". It will then open the chat app you picked and pre-fill the message. It’s not sending the message automatically.

Workaround for Spotify integration

I know some of you are trying to make Spotify autoplay through Shortcuts work, so I’d like to share my fairly simple solution. It helps me to autoplay the latest episode of a „daily news“ podcast (e. g. via lockscreen widget), but you could setup autoplay for any song, playlist or artist too. Here comes the trick: Ask Siri through a voice command to play the desired song, podcast or playlist with Spotify. Then immediately open Shortcuts, and *magic* - you will find the result of your latest voice command as a shortcut action for the Spotify app. Really hope this is useful!

[Shortcut] Post to Lemmy via Shortcuts + Post Articles With Title/URL/TLDR https://routinehub.co/shortcut/16650/

I’ve done it from scratch now, here it is: [download](https://routinehub.co/shortcut/16650/). I’ve split it into two shortcuts, one takes a dictionary with the post info and makes a post. That one can be used for anything. I also created a second shortcut to grab the title, url, and optionally generate a TL;DR via ChatGPT from any website. You can find it [here](https://routinehub.co/shortcut/16651/). I’d appreciate it if someone could try it out and let me know if everything works as it should :)

[Solved] Is there an iOS shortcut that lets me post to lemmy?

**Edit**: I’ve done it from scratch now, here’s the shortcut: [download](https://routinehub.co/shortcut/16650/) —— I’ve been thinking of creating a shortcut that shares an article to a specific community, with the title & url prefilled and a ChatGPT short summary of the article. I’d prefer not to start from scratch with authentication etc. Has anyone come across a shortcut that lets me post to Lemmy that I can use as a starting point? I couldn’t find one yet.

Shortcuts for Timery and Charty?

Howdy folks! Pretty straightforward ask: though [**Timery for Toggle**](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/timery-for-toggl/id1425368544) new charting features + corresponding Shortcuts action are incredible and almost certainly all I'd ever need, I was wondering if anybody out there had ever taken the time to integrate Timery data with [**Charty**](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/charty-for-shortcuts/id1494386093) via shortcuts actions. Open Google Docs in Word?

Apologies in advance - I've tried searching but couldn't find anything in here. I've joined a community that provide updates and documentation via Google Sheets, Docs, etc. but when I try to open them on the browser on my iPhone (either Safari or Brave), I can't edit them. As soon as I click on the Edit icon, I get a prompt to download the app. I don't have a Google account, nor do I use any of their services (consciously), so would like a way to open the documents in the MS Office equivalent (Word, Excel, etc.) so I can edit the documents successfully. TIA.

Upload to Imgur https://routinehub.co/shortcut/16284/

Also requires [Imgur for iOS](https://apps.apple.com/de/app/id639881495) If you’re like me there’s frequently a need to upload images to Imgur, since Lemmy allows uploading only small images and most iOS clients don’t support Imgur (or something similar) directly. It’s a super simple shortcut, but it avoids having to open the app, giving it access to new photos (if you don’t want to give the app full access like me), selecting, and copying. It also means you have them uploaded via your account and can delete the images at any time.

i have a shortcut tied to my speaker NFC tag that turns on the power strip they are connected to, and sets my phone’s airplay destination to the apple tv that they are plugged into. the apple tv automatically wakes my tv! i think this is as close as you can get to that homepod handoff feature without being stuck with an overpriced siri machine. hope someone finds this useful :)

[Mac only] A crude way to use shortcuts + Apple mail + ntfy to make a push notification system for lemmy

Hi guys this might not be applicable to a whole lot of people but recently I made a shortcut which kinda works as a pseudo push notification system for lemmy. It primarily works by intercepting emails from apple mail app, triggering a apple script, which then triggers a shortcut to get latest inbox message from RSS and forward it as a ntfy push notification (you can set clicking the notification to open your lemmy inbox or open another lemmy app, etc). Its not the most elegant solution to push notifications (memmy probabbly puts this system to shame) but I use it since it can relay messages to ios, android, mac, pc, etc. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/55eed8af815a407a9f173d0d5d43a4ea

Datajar variables

I’m trying to do something very simple, and I know I’m not doing it right. I have datajar installed, and I’m just trying to store the current date in a variable in datajar. “Set Value”. I can put it in the screen, and set the key path to the key path in datajar. That works. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to set the “Value” to the current date! Every time I click on it (Mac) or press and hold (iOS, iPadOS ) it wants me to pick a file??? Agin…I know this is going to be an easy answer…just can’t get there. thanks!

Is there any way I could set custom sound for messages from this sender? I already try adding a contact for this sender (wont work), setting shortcut (automation to play sound) which don’t start automatically for messages. I really need this feature, it was not a problem on android… I’m working as a maintenance engineer and need to react asap if get that kind of message- which is why I need to set custom sound alert (it need to be longer to wake me up if I fall asleep).

Arranging and sizing app windows?

I’m very new to shortcuts but excited to learn to make my own. I do a weekly review at the end of each workweek. On my Mac, I open my calendar, notes and tasks and go through everything. I’ve successfully made a shortcut opening two apps in Split View. With 3 apps, though, I’d like to open 2 of them on a quarter of the screen each, and one filling the other half. Is it possible to set this up in shortcuts so I don’t have to manually arrange and resize the windows every time?
