Yes, it very much is a thing.Covid is more deadly than the flu, and has a big risk of postviral illness. We are still in a pandemic.

While some billionaire pop stars admit to performing with covid, or infect thousands because of lack of precautions, others do the right thing and speak up about the problems and risks related to touring in an ongoing pandemic.

Wow, it is a 9 month thread, what a blast from the past. Well, to me, everything, because graphene os does nothing for me- it simply does not support my device. I am not going to buy a fresh new expensive google phone ... to degoogle. I am on a refurbished used phone with calyx, still getting updates, and very happy with my experience.

Thanks for the reccomend. Sounds like my kind of vibe. A lot of things do work with proton, some don't. I also do buy some games, just rather would test them out if they work at all before i commit this way.

This sounds cool. I did use the world exploration in the broad sense instead of a specific genre because I am truly interested in experiencing an interesting world,no matter to me right now if it is a survival game, or horror, or walking simulator... Thanks for the reccomendation this sounds great honestly. will need to check it.

Hi! I recently played Tokyo Ghostwire and really liked it. I did not play a lot of similar games before. So I am looking for more cool games with exploration and interesting worlds, or similar games in general, that will actually work with controllers and work on linux. Did you pirate something like this recently that you liked? Rant: I wanted to play Yakuza 0, as it supposedly works on linux, but it just does not launch. Tried looking for some fixes online, but found nothing relevant to my problem, as it works for most people.... Tried the same with Sleeping dogs, and all I got was a white screen. The fixes I found online with some xml file adjusting the screen resolution but it made the problem even worse,as the game stoped to even try to launch. Tried two different repacks and it changed nothing. So, I am asking for recommendations for more games that I can play, maybe I can get some of them to actually work. I use lutris and protonQT to manage different versions of wine ge and proton. The method of "adding program as a non-steam game" just does nothing, the programs do not launch.

How can you help? LISTEN TO RFF
Tell a friend to drop-in and listen and discover amazing independent fedi artists! Helping RFF reach new listeners is in turn helping our entire artist community. Massive impact from some simple sharing.
Submit your original music! Or, tell an artist friend to get in on the party and submit music. In most cases it's as easy as a single DM.
Follow links affiliated with the tracks we play via now playing, the playlist bot, the playlist csv text files or the artist directory to: -Drop a kind word to an artist who's work you've enjoyed -Tag us too, or #radioFreeFedi, it's hugely rewarding to see amazing and kind interactions -Be an impromptu street team for an artist you've enjoyed hearing to help them reach new corners of the fedi -Consider the best ways you might amiable to for materially supporting artists if you have the means
Check out the schedule and setup a date with a specialty block of themed tunes to discover even more tunes and artists. Since know what you are signing up for, Specialty block selections can go a bit longer and wilder and feature tracks you will not hear on the Main and Comfy channels.
Want to perform live, busk, have a panel interview or discussion, host a listening party or album launch on our Specialty channel and/or video streaming channel? Can you offer some time to moderate chat in the video channel for a hangout? OR, does anyone out there want to record artist interviews? We could happily help recommend some willing and friendly artists. Or would you like to provide production help with any such events? There is space for just about anyone willing to be an active contributor.
Can you help to collate and assemble lists of things such as upcoming release dates from fedi artists? Write some friendly mini reviews of RFF artists we can post as RFF?
Can you provide about 5 minutes of voice read per month for a regular show that RFF will write edit and produce? We just need a regular presenter willing to record the intros and bridges. From a script verbatim if that helps.
Have some original longer form spoken word or other programming you can consent or is fully consented for us to broadcast on the Specialty channel?
You don't have to be a musician to contribute material. Send in some things for theNews or theTraffic. Send in some fun station IDs. If you'd like to do a read, we have scripts and guidelines available if that helps. All good fedizens are welcome to join the party. DM @radiofreefedi@musician.social for more info.
Other duties as required. If you have some regular time to offer, we can probably line you up with a helpful task! Or if you have an idea for any original or consented programming you might like to make for RFF please do pitch it. If you can help with how we might be more sustainable as a community service without burning out a volunteer, we are all ears. Local grants are tough because of our global reach and scope. Prominent global grants lean real heavy to dev of tech that will get thrown away in 12-18 months and less for community building. Corporate money is a non starter. Pledge driving to staff the place feels weird personally as it was never the intention of the experiment, but here we are, it's not really an experiment anymore, and as a means to help and promote more indie artists it may be OK to the community? Any help here would be amazing.
Join us on a public RFF chat for general comradery off the mciroblog format, offers of time or help, feedback. Artists please ask for an invite to our artist and contributor group so that we can discuss station initiatives and how we might further help promote each other. #radioFreeFedi:matrix.org

Submitting music is cool, recording station IDs and "news" readings is good, help with organizing and volunteering for events when they happen, and sharing info about the radio with people who might be interested. There are also some tasks that need sysadmin skills. The station also accepts monetary donations for server insfrastructure and supporting the person who runs it, as it is basically a full time job. More information about submitting is on the main page https://radiofreefedi.net and on the blog posts on the mastodon account

That sounds nice. The last time I saw more than half people in masks was when I was waiting in line to get the booster. I kind of contributed to that by pointing anyone who entered after me towards the box with masks. It was a quite refreshing and completely out of the norm experience here. In this country I get asked by maskless doctors, who are aware that a lot of new patients come to them with long covid, and agree with my opinion that i have long covid, ask me why I wear it.
xuxxun 9 months ago • 100%
I also had social anxiety, i was even hospitalized for it. Seeing maskless people nowadays is borderline triggering to me. Which means I do not go out unless i I need to. Anyway, i will take feeling awkward over getting more disabled anyday.
IF more people wore masks, you would not need to feel that way about it. Some people might feel the same as you and not say it. Wearing them can empower others to do the same.

Yeah, at the very least, the ways cities are should be completely reorganized and redesigned. Air filtration systems everywhere. Fancy self cleaning toilets. Accessible buildings. Prioritizing walking, bikes and mobility aid vehicles over cars. And air filtration in public transport. We could do so much better.
Everytime I leave the house to do anything, I either 1) get shit from people because I am wearing a mask -either minimizing and simply gaslighting comments, or plain agression 2) when they seemy mask they decide to share their grief with me. It is so hard to listen to all the stories of people dying and becoming disabled from covid, shared by maskless people. I tell them masks work, and they should vaccinate. But it is so tiring. I am just trying to survive. I wish others would help each other survive. I am already tired from my chronic illnesses. Seeing the COVID numbers rise and no one masking or doing anything and staying in denial is horrible for my mental health. I am trying my best to hang on to my sanity. I wish you all that you stay sane too.

I am very lonely, because in this world I have been left behind. We are living in a pandemic, and yet most people pretend we do not. I am disabled, have long covid and have been left behind by the majority. I had to give up everything because people refuse to fucking mask and spaces accessible. Staying at home for christmas is the best thing you can do for your health. We are during a global covid surge, the numbers are very high pretty much everywhere. Travelling at this time, especially maskless, is a recipe for death or disability for yourself and anyone else who you would gather with.

Hi! I am looking for one player to join our wednesday group.\ System: to be decided together\ When: Wednesdays, 7PM CEST (CET)\ Where: Discord voice chat \ Safety tools used: Consent form, checking in after sessions\ Players needed: 1\ Language: English\ Game master: me, or another member of the group, no one - or everyone (in our oneshot GM-less games) or if you have an idea for a campaign or one-shot- you as well! We are are a group that enjoys games that, above all else, help us create an interesting story. As players, we like exploring, problem solving (in a broad sense of the word) decision making and seeing the consequences, and impacting the world and story that we make together. Player agency is highly valued in our group. We also like interesting roleplay. I, as a GM, dislike crunchy games that are too far (for my taste) on the simulationist side of the spectrum. We will not play DnD or Warhammer, we will gladly play, for example, PBtA games. I like games that help us push the story forward and give a good base for the roleplaying. In our group so far we have played games such as Monster of the Week, Fellowship, Masks, Subway Runners, some GM-less games and various one-page RPGs. Sometimes we switch and someone else GMS. We are planning to play more similar types of games, and maybe experiment a little with different systems and genres. We discuss which systems we want to play and reach a consensus about them, to make sure that everyone is having fun and is feeling the vibe. Right now we are thinking of playing City of Mist next, or maybe Apocalypse Keys or some cypher based system. Tone: on the scale from "wholesome" to "edgy" the tone is usually more on the "wholesome" side. We did explore some slighlty darker themes during our last MotW campaign, but darker does not necesarily equal "edgy". We have banned some topics from play, one of the banned topics is violence against children and animals. Genres we like (the list is not exhaustive): high/classic fantasy, space fantasy and sci-fi, urban fantasy, cyberpunk, humorous or weird games Currently we have 3 active members (including me) of the group that are willing to play campaigns, and a couple more who are on hiatus or join us for one-shots only. Requirements: -Be an open-minded, inclusive person that accepts human diversity and does not discriminate any minorities. -Be willing to read the systems that we will be playing to prepare for the sessions (we will gladly share books with each other) -Be willing to communicate openly about the systems that you want to play. -Be willing to communicate about preferred styles of play -Be willing to be patient - I am neurodivergent and can be just a little bit scatterbrained at times. -Be 18+. People in our group are all somewhere between 20's and early 30's -Be ready for an adventure :) If you want to join or have any questions, post them below or DM me.

There is a heatwave over here, I hope everyone is surviving somehow? Wish me luck tomorrow, I need to have some testing done, hopefully i will learn more about my conditions. I also hope the maskless staff does not infect me with fuckin covid, cause...long covid is most likely one of the main reasons i even need to get the testing done 🙃🙃 🙃
Hlo I have a linux laptop (popos). I use lutris to launch my windows games. I have a pdp controller for xbox. It works great with steam and legit games but does not work with games i launch through lutris, no matter if pirated or legit. Lutris recognizes the controller in the wine control panel, it just does not work in games. Another controller, also pdp, but in a different color, works fine with lutris games. What is going on here? Can i fix this somehow?
I really wish all the people who decided to pretend that the pandemic is over would read this and finally understand what is at stake
"There is currently no mutual recognition of disability status between the EU Member States. It can cause difficulties for persons with disabilities travelling in the EU. The European Commission worked with persons with disabilities and their advocates to test the European Disability Card. Eight countries already use the European Disability Card a voluntary system of mutual recognition of disability status and some associated benefits. The card ensures equal access to benefits across borders for persons with disabilities, mainly in culture, leisure, sport and transport. Based on this good experience, by the end of 2023, the European Commission will propose a European Disability Card that would apply to all EU countries. The card will make it easier for persons with disabilities to get the proper support when they travel or move to another country in the European Union."
Recently I had some moderately intense encounters with medical staff, but I managed to be assertive and advocate for myself with some success. I even received actually good advice from some of them. I am feeling tired but cautiously optimistic. How about you all? Did anything go well for you recently? What was some stuff that let you feel some positive emotions?

Here is a very interesting text from Itxi Guerra originally written in Spanish and translated to English by Anti. It talks a lot about the relationship of anarchism and disability, but I believe it can an be interesting perspective to read for any kind of activists. In the first section there is also an informative list of all the various models and definitions of disability.
