@bitflipped Definitely with you there! In this case the app in question actually has a pretty good export / backup process but I just got complacent and didn't use it enough. Worked out ok in the end but it very nearly didn't and my lesson is learned! 😬

@Jornia @Drachin @lemmy_stitch Sadly mine has so much backstitch everywhere PK can't really make sense of it. But you know what, I'm in the groove, I'll just keep going.
For science! 😆

@Jornia @Drachin @lemmy_stitch Thank you! Mine is significantly smaller, but still big enough to be a pain in paper form, so sounds like I was on the right track all along.

@ubermeisters Ah right, I was thinking maybe you meant people scan in the paper version, project it onto the fabric and sketch it out or something! Other way round makes a lot more sense 😁
thegiddystitcher 11 months ago • 100%
@ubermeisters May have to look into this at some point if I ever stitch any more of their paper-only patterns!
Um, has anyone ever bothered manually converting a decently large paper pattern into digital? Was it worth the time you saved during actual stitching? Because it seemed like a really good idea to give myself a Pattern Keeper version of Errol, but this much took me half an hour, so maybe not... Is it too late to be posting spooky stuff? This took me like a week to stitch, another week for my fingers to heal up, and then I went and forgot to post it 😭 My first ever hand embroidery piece. Not too shabby, I reckon! Good tree 😁 My official last project for the extended [#FallFinishAlong](https://sunny.garden/tags/FallFinishAlong). Roll on the next one! @Timecircleline Oh that is cool! I've actually never tried double knitting so can't advise there, but all I'll say is a month ago you probably didn't think socks would be so easy either...
Mildly belated but cute-as-heck FO Keep forgetting to post this finish, so let's do it while I think on! This is Ocean Wonder from Caterpillar Cross Stitch, it was their subscription box number 13 and I think we can all agree it's adorable. I think my favourites are the little turtle and seahorse friends, can't decide between them! I have no idea how to FFO this but it's a problem for Future Michelle 😅 [@lemmy\_stitch](https://sh.itjust.works/c/lemmy_stitch) [#CrossStitch](https://sunny.garden/tags/CrossStitch)

@discworld My personal plan is a pair of Eskarina Socks (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/eskarina-socks) and a cross stitched Errol (https://www.ebay.com/itm/122196806696)
But am admittedly rethinking my self-imposed "no shawls" rule due to this https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lady-margolatta 🤔
Calling all crafters & Discworld fans! Myself and some friends from my crafty Discord are holding ourselves a “Discworld makealong”. And naturally we’d love to invite our friends in the Fediverse to join in too 🥳 No pressure. No deadlines. Just for fun. And any craft welcome! So far knitting and cross stitch are well-represented but I’m sure we’ll pick up a few more along the way 😄 November 4th, through Hogswatch season, ending in the new year\*. You’re very welcome to join in with your project at any point!. Some of us will be on Mastodon under [#DiscworldMAL](https://sunny.garden/tags/DiscworldMAL). I for one will be on Lemmy too. And of course if you want to join the Discord, link’s in my bio, but not necessary if you’re not into that. (Oh and for those of you who have no idea what Discworld is or what I’m talking about, congratulations you’ve got 41 books to look forward to!) \*I suspect most projects will not actually be finished by then, because we’re slow and easily distracted. As demonstrated by me not posting about this until it’s a week away 🙃 Edit: WIP pattern suggestions list [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1--9xJSdy\_y7KqBPMqQCFCVmCgvzyJFsP\_WooG5TzA-o/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1--9xJSdy_y7KqBPMqQCFCVmCgvzyJFsP_WooG5TzA-o/edit?usp=sharing) [@discworld](https://lemmy.ml/c/discworld) [#Discworld](https://sunny.garden/tags/Discworld) [#GNUTerryPratchett](https://sunny.garden/tags/GNUTerryPratchett) [#Knitting](https://sunny.garden/tags/Knitting) [#CrossStitch](https://sunny.garden/tags/CrossStitch)

thegiddystitcher 11 months ago • 100%
@weirdsquid I'd love to claim that the button band thing was on purpose! Ideally the pumpkins wouldn't be quite so "on the boobs" but needs must when you have the minimum fabric I suppose.
But the pattern matching on the pocket definitely *was* on purpose, and I'm proud of that part 😂
We'll be doing our annual Spooktacular movie marathon tomorrow so naturally it needed to be ready by then!

@IoSapsai @lemmy_stitch Oh no, I didn't even notice that and now I'm sad.
Artecy freebies for October This month we've got a colourful tree that I really like the look of (90 colours, but it just might be worth it!), and a quintessential Italian coastal town. This is, as promised, a reminder to cross stitch pattern hoarders everywhere 😂 Grab 'em at [http://artecy.com/free.html](http://artecy.com/free.html) [@lemmy\_stitch](https://sh.itjust.works/c/lemmy_stitch) [#CrossStitch](https://sunny.garden/tags/CrossStitch) [#Artecy](https://sunny.garden/tags/Artecy) [#FreePatterns](https://sunny.garden/tags/FreePatterns)
Spooky Halloween shirt complete! Husband has always fancied a proper cool Halloween shirt, so I picked this fabric in secret and banned him from the sewing room until it was complete. I could only afford the absolute bare minimum yardage, and didn't have much control over pattern placement (also no room for cutting errors, eek!) But it all worked out and as of tonight he's seen it and tried it on and appears to love it. All good! I will get proper posed photos at some point but for now here it is on my decidedly more curvy dress form! Main annoyance is that my topstitching is a bit wonky, and I'm normally pretty good at topstitching. Oh well. @meggied90 Toe-up gang for life! Except for all the times I knit top-down, of course 😂
(also these first ones that I hated were toe-up, so that put me off for a while, but I came back around lol)
Given how much I enjoy knitting socks, encourage others to try knitting socks, and basically never stop talking about knitting socks, I thought you might all appreciate the project notes from my first ever socks. It's finally here! It was how many weeks ago now that the [#Packers](https://sunny.garden/tags/Packers) made their dramatic comeback against the Saints? Well I swore if we turned that game around, I'd get a Jordan Love jersey. One shipping delay and an apology discount code from the NFL Europe shop later, it hath arrived. @just_chill Ooh it's gorgeous. Almost seems like it could be a coat at first glance!
The best thing about fabrics like this is that any weird creases or anything mostly get hidden by the print anyway, so no harm no foul 😁

@skyfire101 @sewing Thank you! 🙂
50p sheet into an entire holiday outfit! Yep. Fifty pence in a charity shop, you literally can't go wrong. I made this over the summer in preparation for our big family holiday, and remember I had to ask for help with gathering over at [@sewing](https://lemmy.world/c/sewing) because it was being a nightmare and I am a noob. Worked out pretty well in the end, though! (Thank you Lemmy folks for the advice) Lots of firsts with this skirt! Well, two firsts. I put pockets into a pattern that didn't have them, and also drafted a curved waistband so it would actually fit. Felt pretty pro after all that, I won't lie 😎 Patterns are the Cali Skirt and Ellie Bralette from [https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/NHPATTERNS](https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/NHPATTERNS), and I was about to shoutout [@wisbr](https://foodin.ga/@wisbr) for enabling me with that link in the first place, but she seems to have gone and now I'm sad 😢 [\#Sewing](https://sunny.garden/tags/Sewing) [#CruiseWitch](https://sunny.garden/tags/CruiseWitch) [#MeMadeWardrobe](https://sunny.garden/tags/MeMadeWardrobe) [#ItHasPockets](https://sunny.garden/tags/ItHasPockets) [#Thrifting](https://sunny.garden/tags/Thrifting)

@IoSapsai The title thing happens because Lemmy takes the first line of your toot as the post title. So if you just put the first sentence on its own, and do your community tagging separately, it's totally fine.
I have also experimented extensively, lol.

@sortofblue You're welcome! Soon you too can have an unreasonably large library of Artecy patterns you'll never get round to stitching! :apartyblobcat:
Sometimes they add them early in the month, sometimes on the last day, sometimes they forget entirely and then do two months all at once. I'll post here whenever I find they've changed it, can't hurt 😁
PSA: Artecy freebies for September are up. I'm sure most [#CrossStitch](https://sunny.garden/tags/CrossStitch) & [#Embroidery](https://sunny.garden/tags/Embroidery) folks are already aware, but [#Artecy](https://sunny.garden/tags/Artecy) give away a couple of their patterns for free each month. Exactly \*when\* the page updates each month is anyone's guess, so I just have a calendar reminder to keep checking back so I can catch 'em all 😁 Anyone else who likes to collect and hasn't seen the latest update yet..behold!
