I’m extremely sorry you were put in that tricky position of moderating a channel that the dev was inactive in as well as dealing with the feeling of being scammed — I messed up, clearly!
As for the messages, I have not logged onto the web UI for Lemmy in quite some time and obviously have not been as active as I should have been here so didn’t catch them so I’m sorry if you felt like you were being ignored by me.
I’m hoping I can turn things around and correct the lack of updates both in development and communication in the coming weeks. I’m not going to make any excuses, I should have done a better job and I’m sorry about that.

Hey Everyone, First of all, I owe you an apology for the lack of updates and communication from me. I totally understand the frustration from everyone and the feeling that the rug’s been pulled out from under you. I’m not going to many any excuses, I can only express my apologies and plans to rectify this moving forward. Next week, I will be working to fix some of the issues highlighted in this community: chiefly the inbox issues and switching to using the Authorization header now that Lemmy has made the change. After that, I want to work with you all again as I did during the beta testing phase to figure out what priorities should be. I of course, don’t expect anyone to take my word any face value but I hope that actions speak louder than words and that you’ll bear with me while I pick development back up on Bean. It’s pretty late here in the UK but I didn’t want to head to sleep while everyone was expressing their concerns. - Steve

Oh yeah, that’s not great! I thought the monotone looked better than different colours but I think some different shades will work better.
I’ll fix in the next update along with some tweaks to the comment composer because some issues have arisen there too.

I’m submitting a small update (1.0.7) to the App Store today that changes the following: - Added new theme: Sky - Added an option to hide or show usernames on the feed. - Bookmarks no longer hide read posts. - Fixed format bar on comments covering text. Apologies for the delay on getting an update out to you all, hopefully I’m fully recovered from being sick and ready to get some more stuff out to you all soon. I’m still working on messaging which will hopefully be in 1.1 soon. After that, priority will be iPad with smaller patches for bug fixes in between. Thank you so much for the support and welfare checks while I was gone. I really appreciate you all ❤️

It hasn’t been particularly pleasant but I can feel that I’m getting on the mend now which is good. I ended up seeing a doctor yesterday as I couldn’t swallow at all and it seems that I developed Tonsillitis too. I’m taking antibiotics so I’m hopeful that they kick in soon and I can feel myself again.

Oh that’s an oversight on my part! I presumed that Apple’s subscription system would allow you to switch to lifetime but it looks like it’s just between monthly and annually.

Submitted to App Review… - Added Translation menu items for posts and comments. - Fixed the Blur Images setting not saving correctly. - Fixed “Browser” option not working on post context menu. - Fixed issue with html entities in push notifications. - More efficiently calculate drop shadows. I've not been able to replicate any kind of memory leak or crashing on my side but I did notice the way I was handling shadows may have caused issues. I'm hoping that the changes I've made today will improve performance. I've also started work on messaging and that will be coming in the next couple of days as well as some refinement on the inbox and push notifications (it's glitchy and annoying me at the moment).

Hi All, I'm looking for testers for the iPad version of Bean as currently it's a bit of a mess… I've started work on switching over to things like split views there but there's a lot of work to be done and I want the app to be a first class citizen on the platform. This means supporting things like keyboard short cuts, Split View, multi-window, and more. Hey Beanies! 👋 First of all, thank you so much for your help testing Bean, ironing out bugs, suggesting features, and encouraging me to work on this app. It’s been a blast so far and I look forward to working on Bean for a long time. I’m happy with where Bean is and I’ll be pushing it to the App Store *this week*. There are just a couple of things I need to finalise first, like the ability to block users and editing Groups. I’ve also decided to go down the “Pro” plan route for monetisation. Bean will be **free** to download and use, and the paid plan will unlock additional themes, icons, and some premium features (like push notifications). Pricing will include monthly, annual, and lifetime options. Expect to see Bean Pro pop up in a build in the coming days and I hope you’ll all support this decision. I’ve put a lot of time into Bean and have taken time away from my day job to work on it. Hopefully this monetisation route will enable me to continue to dedicate a lot of time each month as there is so much more I want to do. — Steve ❤️
Testers: I’ve pushed some changes today, please can you re-register for notifications. I may re-write this entirely soon! **Update:** Definitely re-writing this. It’s unreliable af at the moment. **Update 2:** I’ve rewritten the notification server so it should be much more reliable.
The APNs server is setup! I’ll be getting this on a domain tomorrow or over the weekend and adding notification support in an update soon. As Lemmy doesn’t have a streaming service, I’ll need to poll the servers every 60 - 300 seconds depending on rate limits. We shall see how it goes! 😊
