The Trolley Problem is all about how there's frequently no good options in a scenario. People are gonna die whether or not you make a decision, and you'd be right to walk away from that lever if there were equal amounts of death on each track. But there frequently are not equal situations. Six people versus one person. A kid versus an old man. 7 Nuns versus 10 Lawyers. The person you love the most in the world versus the person you hate the most in the world.

Sure, you have to be discerning and look for any tracks that don't have something tied to them. That's why I mention that self-driving cars, thanks to their sensors, don't have to hit the bus full of school children or the SUV full of nuns -- they've seen the bus and the SUV and the idiot merging into traffic and the idiot on their phone and everything else due to their 27 different cameras and their LADAR and RADAR and so on, and to the advanced AI computer that can pay attention to all those sensors at once, and have calculated a path to escape to the track that doesn't have anyone being killed in the phony concocted examples of why AI cars are bad.

But in regards to the Presidency, there literally is a Trolley Problem here, and it IS as straight forward as you say it isn't. Come January of next year, one of two people will take the Oath of Office.

    • Kamala Harris, who you say is a genocidal maniac who will enable the mass murder and enslavement of Gaza by the Israelis...
    • Donald Trump, who himself has said is a genocidal maniac who will not only enable but accelerate the mass murder and enslavement of Gaza by the Israelis, and who plans on bringing that treatment right back to home for LGBTQ+, minorities, non-Christians, and women.

Jill Stein, Cornel West, Chase Oliver (seriously, I had to go look this guy up!), and whoever else promises you they can fix a Broken Washington won't be elected to that office. Period. End of line. All they'll accomplish is taking votes away from the major party candidate closest aligned to your positions, and ensure the other guy gets into office. The track of no genocide is an illusion, a mirage that fades the moment you look at it too hard. I know. It sucks. We all want more options for people to represent us. But those are the rules, and have been the rules for literally this country's entire existence. It sucks, but denying reality won't help. Come January, one of two people will take the oath of office: a Republican and a Democrat, just like it has been for the past 150 years, and even before, albeit with Federalist vs. Anti-Federalist or Democratic-Republican vs. Whig.

I'm going to vote for the person who will do the least harm to those I care about. I'm going to push and push hard for everyone else to join me in voting for her. I'm going to constantly call out this 'but third party!' stuff. Because for everything you have accused Harris of allowing, Trump will not only do that, but a dozen other hateful things.

The ads themselves don't cost much. Really, it's just a voiceover of scenes for every political ad. What costs money is getting it in front of voters' eyes.

Lots of money trades hands during election season, and it's all about getting ads in front of influence-able people and getting them to do the thing you want them to do (vote for me!!!!).

I do have my criticisms about the ad. It spends too many seconds articulating the message "White dudes can easily vote for Harris/Walz and you should to save the US from Donald Trump." It should be shorter, IMNSHO. But you'll be surprised at how little money goes to the designers and actors for an ad, compared to the metric fuckton of money that gets put into the pockets of advertisers and media companies.

That it's the advocacy group trying to hold Biden and Harris accountable for the continuation of the atrocities in Palestine saying this should make it clear. The actual people on the ground may feel strongly about Palestinian civil rights, they know where their bread is buttered and that the other realistic alternative in this election is "Orange Hitler", to use another poster's euphemism, is just plain horrible.

And the fun part is these aren't my words. These are the words of the "Uncommitted" faction that wants to hold Democrats' feet to the fire. They're saying that at the moment, there's bigger fish to fry -- a MAGAt movement that would make everything Team Blue has done look like child's play in comparison. So, Mr. Give Some Fucks isn't just arguing with me. He's arguing with the guys and gals actually advocating for Palestinians.

I can get behind this. Sure, we can criticise Team Blue for slow-dragging their feet on protecting Palestinians. Never said we couldn't. That said, there's clear consequences to a Trump victory. The Uncommitted have made it clear they grasp this and ask you to vote for Harris, even if they can't endorse Harris. Staying home, voting third party, or heaven forbid, voting Trump will just make things in the Middle East FAR worse.

    > The “Uncommitted” movement seeking a change in the Democratic Party’s approach to the war in Gaza on Thursday announced it is not ready to support Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris — while urging voters not to back Republican nominee Donald Trump or third-party candidates who could help Trump win the November election. > The “Uncommitted” group “opposes a Donald Trump presidency, whose agenda includes plans to accelerate the killing in Gaza while intensifying the suppression of anti-war organizing,” the statement continues. Additionally, the group is “not recommending a third-party vote in the Presidential election, especially as third party votes in key swing states could help inadvertently deliver a Trump presidency given our country’s broken electoral college system.”

No. A losing campaign looks like 2021-01-06. That's what a losing campaign looks like. It ain't over until the fat lady sings. Republicans are disenfranchising known Dem voters, making it hard to vote for people they suspect won't toe the line, and have people out singing the praises of alternative Left-Wing candidates to everyone who will listen, taking advantage of the 'the Left has to fall in love, the right falls in line' factor. Check your registration. Check the last day to register and check your registration again on that day (at least, I'd check weekly until the last day). Make sure your address is correct and you have the proper things to jump through flaming hoops and moats filled with crocodiles because Team Pepe WILL throw that shit in your way. And make a plan to vote. You got to get your vote for Harris (and nobody else other!) locked in on or before election day. Deliver a resounding no to Team Shitgibbon!

True, you might be right, but at least calling it out calls people like Jordon Lund to attention. I noticed after he caught flak from me, he started more directly challenging people like this poster. Maybe pointing out to him how this Socialist Berserker said similar but different things to one comment within minutes or even seconds of each other might just be the ammo they need to actually call a spade a spade. That said, if they don't, we have the receipts and we can point to them over and over again every time posters like this one spew this kind of malarkey. :)

So...I'm with you. Fascists are bad, and we need to make sure that Fascists can't hide their fascism when and if we get this country sorted and back on its feet. But I have questions!

    • How do we ensure that we only catch Fascists? Your Magatmap seems to require an image, but no description.
    • What stops me from cooking up an AI image of somebody I don't like with Trump flags and swastika arm bands and getting them submitted to your system?
    • What happens if this guy was a Trumpet in 2016, but is apologetic about it now and swears he's no longer a trumpet?
    • How do you ensure that innocent people not get caught up in your MAGAt Map?
    • What are we supposed to do with the map afterwards?

Liberals have a good reason for questioning your methods here. We don't want to become what we hate because when you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares into you. We've seen it happen time and time again. And those of us who look at your suggestion wonder if we will become Nazis trying to fight Nazis your way.

I'm not going to speak on THIS poster, but...

What is this? A bank of phones caught click-farming in Thailand not too long ago. It's very similar to Chinese and Russian bot farms -- a handful of operators who are connected to a metric fuckton of phones, each signed into a fake account with tools to help these bad actors 'get in character'.

You can usually tell troll farm accounts by their prolific post history. I have a job so I can't stick around and talk politics all day, but these guys do, so they can literally post once every 18 minutes for over a month, day and night, without any interruptions. You might ask "don't you have a job that you should be doing?!" when confronted with constant posting, day and night, but the answer is they DO have a job and that's to push the memes and BS that they are pushing. Another way you can tell? Two replies to the same message -- caused by the troll farm employees stepping on each other's feet, and not properly handing off identitites to each other. Rule 3 says I can't accuse Socialist Berserker of being one of these troll accounts, but Rule 3 doesn't prevent me from correctly pointing out that this sort of operation exists, and how you can tell if an individual is a member of this operation. So...make your own minds up.

Thank you for saying this. Come November, one of two people will walk out with the victory: Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Nobody else. We saw in 2016 and 2020 that the Shitgibbon can get LOTS of votes. We had to put up 7 million more votes than they did to win, and it was STILL close. Vote. Get your friends to vote. Get your friends to get their friends to vote. And help as many strangers who are voting Blue to vote as possible.

Nothing should stop you. Harris got this in the bag? No. She doesn't. Go vote. Trump's got no chance to win? No. He does. Go vote. Swifties coming out en masse and you don't need to worry? No. Trump's got fans of his own and you should always worry...and go vote. Go vote to counter every useful idiot and Republican Troll and Russian bot out there who has convinced a Greenie to do the stupid thing and vote third party.

Team Red doesn't deserve sportsmanship. Run that score up nation-wide. Check your registration deadline NOW and check your registration today, and repeat this check at the last day to register to vote. If you don't show up in the roles, you need to register. Screenshot that too so you have evidence you were registered to vote. Make sure you have your ID ready and understand all the hoops you have to jump through. Numerous organisations exist to help you:

Don't let anything get between you and voting Harris in the upcoming election.

Hi. Let me explain my downvote to you, 101.

When you post an article, you get a screen that looks like this:

In that form, you can submit the title as is, or add more context, in the Title field. For instance, you could have given the full title, including the subtitle:

This would have made your post clearer.

Alternatively, in the Body field, you could have included a few lines from the article.

The claim was shared on Russian state-run media Sputnik’s Chinese-language Weibo on Sept. 11, 2024.

“Harris wore the Nova H1 Audio earrings during last night’s debate with Trump,” the claim reads in part. Sputnik cited “American musician Jonnie King” to back its claim.

    -and-

A photo comparison between the earrings worn by Harris during the debate and the Nova H1 shows they differ in shape. In particular, the metal portions of both earrings show a major difference.

    -and-

Under the debate rules issued by ABC it is forbidden to use props or pre-written notes.

However, ABC did provide pen and paper for each candidate’s use during the debate.

...would have made great fodder for the body of your post.

Either way, and I suspect you would have gotten better reader engagement. Let's not reward bad journalism and bullshitconspiracy theory factories, please.

    Edit: A word.

Dear reader, we got the Shitgibbon in 2017 because a very small fraction of our voters in each of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania (1.07% in MI, 0.81% in PA, 1.04% in WI) defected to the Green candidate. These states were lost by a narrower margin than the number of voters who voted Stein, allowing Trump to run roughshod over the country for 4 years, being a Russian Asset and damaging the fabric of our nation's norms, making the place a worse place. It doesn't take a lot of voters, and yes, I am worried that some Lemmy voters will read the trip this poster is posting and decide to give Stein a chance, like those voters did in 2016.

I can't call this guy a moron because Rule 3, but I can say 'if you vote third party in this election with what's at stake, you're a fucking moron' as a general statement. Please make the smart choice. Don't listen to this ... poster.

    THANK YOU

Yeah. I have and still do call our elections out as a Donkey Pee vs. Elephant Dung contest. You're given two choices for what you're gonna eat -- a steaming mug of donkey pee, or an elephant shit sandwich. Pick well, because you don't get to decide what you alone eat. The entire community will be served the same meal. I'd rather neither, but my desire for ice cream won't matter because for some odd reason, this country prefers the excrement in an evenly divided line between the types of excrement.

Even in the best of times, I'd prefer the pee to the poo, because you can wash that out with a stiff alcoholic drink, but today, the elephant has gotten really sick, and your choice is basically donkey pee or a pile of diarrhea with two mouldy slices of bread buried in it, with a side of jackboots to your neck. You have to be an idiot to try to pick icecream in that situation, so I'm taking the donkey pee.

This horrific mental image brought to you by the Hidden Catboy. 🤣

The truth is that third parties are bad, period, in a FPTP system.

It doesn't matter who the third party is, or what they stand for. Three idiots voting for shiny distraction candidates in a 51/49 vote split from the 51 vote 'coalition' ensure that all 51 voters get whatever the 49 voters picked because 49 is better than 48 plus three third party votes. It's even MORE important when those three votes enable Agolf Twitler to be elected into office and round up all the gays, Muslims, minorities, and whoever else dares step out of line of the new Right-Wing Authoritarian Dictatorship detailed in Project 2025.

Honestly, yes. You can't vote third party, and you can't not vote, if you don't want Trump in office. If you vote Third Party or stay home, you're good with Trump being in office, which means you're good with leaving minorities, non-Christians, transgendered people, and gay people up Project 2025 Shit Creek without a paddle. If Left-Wing Third Parties are serious, they will start by running their candidates as spoilers in the Democratic Primary and appealing to voters to listen and add their platforms to the list of priorities to push the Dems on. They'd simultaneously work hard to get Ranked Choice passed nation-wide as that system is the most compatible with our country's political system. Once they get that passed, they would join efforts to reform the Electoral College so it doesn't require 270 votes, an then implement a more effective voting system for President that ensures that left-wing voters don't get a Right-Wing president elected voting for Third Party options. They would also push hard to win at the City, County, and State levels, as well as in the Congress, so the Jill Steins of the world have friendly legislators to rely on.

Ocasio-Cortez is right to call this out.

And this is not a left vs. right thing as much as it is a foreign policy issue that's being exploited by bad actors trying to divide the Left and unify the Right so they can get their authoritarian friends installed.

Again. Most Americans, especially those who vote reliably, are far more concerned about cost of living than whether or not we let more foreigners live here or whether or not we spank Israel for their misadventures in Palestine. You want to reduce oil production? And do what? Russia's oil production was curtailed severely after its invasion of Ukraine and that resulted in a massive surge of energy costs world wide. You need to cut oil consumption if you want to cut oil production, and we've already seen that voters in the USA are willing to punish any party that cuts production for political purposes if it harms them at home. This poster's idea of cutting oil production will get Republicans elected, which will harm everything this it says it supports. That's my point in all of this.

    Interesting questions to think about:

    • This poster and its ilk are constantly talking about Palestine and how evil Israel is, but never how they plan on making it so that Israel isn't run roughshod over by its neighbours. Why is that?
    • Why don't they hold Hamas as accountable for this as Israel? I mean, Hamas WAS the aggressor and technically this is a defensive war by Israel...
    • This poster and its ilk focus so heavily on Palestine. What about Ukraine, who is also being brutally invaded and subject to atrocities?
    • Republicans have said that they plan on empowering Israel to wipe out Hamas, whatever it takes, and allow Israel to subjugate Palestine, no matter what the locals want.
    • Republicans have said that they are going to withdraw military support to Ukraine. This will allow Ukraine to be steamrolled by Russia in short order. Do these people who advocate voting third party or staying home think that Ukraine doesn't deserve to exist?
    • And above all, how does this poster and its ilk justify getting Democrats thrown out of office through non-voting or third-party voting when we know that the Republicans have a plan for everyone, that includes stopping all left-wing voters from ever voting again.

Here's another thing this poster misses in its rant.

Dick Cheney and George Will are not on board our party for our policy. Both have made it clear that there are major policy disagreements between them and the Democratic Party, but they have said that the other party is so dangerous, they felt it necessary to both vote for AND endorse our party. They've said so much in almost so many words!

    Dick Cheney

In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump. He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him. He can never be trusted with power again.

As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.

    George Will

The restoration of normal politics will require two things: The removal of Donald Trump — that Krakatau of volcanic, incoherent, fact-free bombast — from public life. And the rekindling of an irrepressible conflict.

It is between progressivism, of which Kamala Harris is full to overflowing, and actual conservatism, about which Trump is contemptuous.

Cheney is circumspect about it, but if you read eep enough, you can see he's not voting for Harris, but against Trump. Meanwhile, George Will makes it clear -- he's NOT a friend of Kamala Harris or Progressivism. He's just anti-Trump and wants Trump out of his political sphere.

No. The party of cancelling Student Loan Debt is not right-wing by Trump measures, and that's not why GOP Alums are moving to the Dems. The only reason they're endorsing us is they, like me, believe that the GQP as it currently stands is an existential threat to the USA.

I play the game by the rules the Mods have established. It is a fact that Russia is stoking divisions and interfering with our election in order to get the Authoritarian Trump party elected so they may get to the business of crushing democracies in their orbit without Western interference. And they have a variety of tools with which to do it. Nothing this poster says changes that fact. If the poster feels called out by me pointing out that there are Russian influence operations, as well as Chinese and Iranian operations, well, all I can tell the poster is sucks to be him. Maybe reconsider his tone and goal here, in this election where outside bad-faith actors are trying to get us to install an Authoritarian Dictator for their own Authoritarian Dictators' goals?

This poster uses an interesting analogy, but still misses the point. Let me spell it out clearly for you, dear reader.

Let's start off with the scenario. No. You're not picking which hotdog you're going to eat. You're at a picnic dinner, and the organisers have suggested that everyone has a voice in what's to eat. But they have made a rule! For economies of scale, you aren't going to get your own personal choice of food. They're not going to let you request a gourmet hotdog with all the fixings while everyone else orders regular hotdogs. Everyone's going to get the same food to eat, but a majority vote will decide what is eaten by everyone! So, let's start with a variation of my favourite example, but use the above scenario. There are 100 people and they are deciding what the main meal for the picnic will be.

You, of course, have the power to say "I want a gourmet hotdog with all the toppings," but they note that your writein is different than "hotdogs on buns." So, imagine your picnic has 51 people who want some variation on hotdogs, and 49 people who want some variations on Hamburgers. And a dude dressed up as a green banana starts screaming "we should order exactly what we want!" and convinces you and one other person to vote for your speciality hotdog dish. Meanwhile, a dude with a really badly combed over orange toupee tells the other side "hey, the hotdog lovers are gonna split their vote. I know you all want different types of hamburgers, but if we all vote for one type of hamburger, we got this!"

Result? You vote for gourmet hotdog, the green banana guy votes for hotdog with sliced bananas, and a third guy votes for just the hotdog itself, no bun, and 48 other people vote hotdogs with mayo and mustard. All 49 of the hamburger guys, led by orange toupee man, vote for hamburgers. The final vote is 49 Hamburgers, 48 Hotdogs, and one each of three different hotdog variations. And because Green Banana Man convinced you to stand up for your rights to order exactly what you want rather than voting strategically, the 51 people who were the majority are forced to eat hamburgers because thems the rules.

We're doing the exact same thing when we vote in the USA (unless you live in Maine or Alaska -- more on them later). Your vote for Jill Stein or Cornel West or whoever can result in your 100 person picnic getting Donald Trump, and won't move the needle if any more than 1 person wants something else (yes, you'd literally have to get 50 people to vote gourmet hotdog if you want to beat the 49 hamburger voters, just like you'd have to convince literally the entire Democratic caucus to unite behind you to beat Trump with Stein). Thus, if you want to actually avoid Donald Trump and the Republican Party making policy the next 4 years, you either have to convince us Stein is better than Trump (they're doing a lousy job of an uphill task given Stein's embracing of conspiracy theories and her pro-Russian stances, btw), or you have to vote tactically in the election, just like you have to swallow your desire for gourmet hotdogs and just pick the hotdog option like the 48 other voters, and convince at least the other person besides Green Banana Man in your 'hotdogs but' coalition to join in to avoid hamburgers.

Now, there ARE exceptions to this rule. If your picnic decides that you can rank the choices, you can write in 'Gourmet Hotdog with all the trimmings' as your first choice, then pick hotdog as your second choice, and your pick for gourmet hotdog won't get you hamburger. But remember, voting for President is not so simple. For local and State races, please do exactly that. We need more alternatives, for sure. But POTUS requires 270 EVs -- should you get Maine to throw in an EV for Green or West or whoever for POTUS, you might be the person who gets a 269/268/1 split thrown to the House where Trump gets picked.

Oh yeah, and I agree with just_another_person, too. It's not a big deal if you get hamburgers instead of hotdogs at the picnic as most of us will eat either or, but...what would knowing that the hamburgers are poisoned would do to your choice? Especially if the hamburger eaters were so pro-hamburger they'd still vote for eating it knowing it would kill them? Suddenly, voting 'whatever is most likely to prevent us from eating hamburger at the picnic' becomes far more important than getting exactly what you want. Even if you get diarrhea off the hotdogs!

What this poster and others like it miss, dear reader, is the truth being shown them. It must be nice to not have any concerns that might be harmed by harming the opposition to the Leopards Eat Your Face party, despite so many other people being harmed by the Leopards Eat Your Face party. We can't know which faction this particular poster belongs to, but we should keep in mind that there are three major factions that are pushing the 'don't vote for the guys who will save you from the Leopards Eat Your Face party':

    • The faction that honestly doesn't believe that harming the Democrats will get us Trump and somehow their choice for the Green party or whatever will actually win.
    • The faction that embraces letting Republicans run the show because somehow, in their stupid, convoluted brains, it'll break the Duopoly of power between Team Blue and Team Pepe without resulting in a single-party dictatorship and eventually Greens will win.
    • The faction that actually supports Republicans and Authoritarianism and are looking to use the fact that we must fall in love to vote for a candidate to split our vote so Republicans win and they get the single-party Authoritarian dictatorship they want, and can get to the business of grinding Democrats, Socialists, Left-Libertarians, Greens, and other left-of-centre ideology followers under their authoritarian jackboot-heels.

We can't know what faction THIS poster belongs to, and even if we did and could convincingly prove so, Rule 3 would prevent us from calling out members of the third faction anyway, but keep in mind that there ARE people out there who want to make you throw your vote away so America can be conquered by Russian- and Chinese-style Authoritarianism.

I don't live and don't vote in the USA

Sure, here on the Internet where the Men are Men, the Women are Men, the Children are FBI Agents, SURE you're not a deranged trumper shitting on the lady who your side tried to coopt a few weeks ago, and nobody, and I mean nobody knows I'm a cat.

I don't trust you and you shitting on Swift is doing you no favours. If you don't like Swift, you move on. That you didn't and continue to attack anyone who questions your silliness suggests that you're more than non-appreciative of her as a singer. Hell, I don't like her as a singer. But I'm not going to act like a removed MAGA idiot by shitting on her music on a thread about how she is making removed MAGA idiots lose their shit by endorsing the other person. :)

Objectively, the woman has almost 300 million total followers, and has driven almost a half million new signups in TWO DAYS with her post clarifying she's not supporting Team Red. Objectively, she has a net worth that pisses off quite a few liberals because we tend to think having billions of dollars is millions of people living in abject poverty. Objectively she is a part of American popular culture. Objectively, she has eleven singles ranked at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Objectively, she has 232 charted titles on the Hot 100 as of February of this year, ranking her as the most accomplished woman and in the top ten of ALL singers, world-wide. By all objective measures, this woman is a really damn good singer.

Your opinions of her are your own, which is subjective. The numbers I cited above, taken from Billboard are very objective numbers based on how often songs are bought and streamed. While it's very subjective for individual viewers (and I agree, she's not my cup of tea either!), the objective fact is that Swift speaks to a lot of people, and your personal disdain for her doesn't change that fact one stinkin' bit.

Todd is absolutely right, though. It's a very Salty Rightie thing to do to come in an attack a woman with some serious musical awards and accomplishments and say just because he didn't like her, she's no good. Anyone pulling this crap right now really looks defeated, humiliated, and just plain utterly SAD, a sad sack of a bitter and scorned rightie angry that a pretty girl rejected their Emprah and endorsed the other side.

Indeed, and note that Harris didn't even attempt to go after his voters. The target is the middle and the squishy left, a reminder of what the stakes are in this election. She made it clear he was a petulant child, only caring about himself and the things important to him, and invited voters who want someone who doesn't just care about themselves to come out and vote for her.

Hopefully it's effective, because Trump has Project 2025 ready to go, despite his lies saying he knows nothing about it.

Five disinformation tactics Russia is using to try to influence the US election theconversation.com

    > This time around, the US has seized a network of Russian-run internet domains, and sanctioned ten people including Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT (formerly Russia Today), for “activities that aim to deteriorate public trust in our institutions”. Sanctions include freezing any property or assets in the US, and potentially restrictions on any US citizen or company that works with them. > Here are five key features of Russian information manipulation we identified, and which can help understand the latest election-meddling scandal. > 1. Analysis | The problem for third parties? America is not a political free market. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/07/28/problem-third-parties-america-is-not-political-free-market/

    > Americans are deeply frustrated with politics. They see the country heading in the wrong direction. They are regularly forced to choose between two candidates they don’t particularly like. Between 40 and 50 percent of the country identifies not as Democrat or Republican but as independent. > Here is what it takes to get on the ballot in Pennsylvania. Read through that, noting the difference between candidates for “political parties” and “minor political parties.” Imagine you are thinking about putting forth a challenge to an incumbent state officeholder but don’t want to run as a Democrat or a Republican. What are the odds that you get tripped up by the rules? > The problem, of course, is that Americans have strong views about specific things on which they are often not going to be willing to compromise. The Forward essay criticizes the far left for wanting to get rid of guns and the far right for wanting to get rid of gun laws. But that’s not where the parties are, because the parties are responsive to the coalitions they’ve built. If you simply take some independents and sit them down — much less partisans! — you’re going to very quickly find a lot of important issues on which there is not a reachable consensus. Then what?

Democrats need to pull themselves together and remember: Biden is still better than Trump www.usatoday.com

While rebutting another post here on Lemmy, I ran into this. This says exactly what I want to say. I am not a friend of Biden's Administration. I think they drug their feet over a variety of things ranging from holding Trump and his goons accountable for January 6th through rulemaking on issues like OTC Birth Control and abortion rights, and yes, I think he's too quick to please big business. But then I remember what the alternative is, and ... well, disappointed in Biden or not, I'm voting for him. Because my wife is a Black bisexual goth woman, four strikes under Team Pepe's tent. And I have my own strikes for marrying her as a White dude, and respecting her right to not have kids since she doesn't want them is another strike against me. And I care about my Non-Christian, Gay, Transgender, and Minority friends, and will never willingly subject them to Team Pepe.

Saw this today, and ... well, I'm not going to be so forgiving to people suggesting to vote Third Party rather than vote for Biden. If Trump wants me to do something, and you want me to do that same something, that tells me you're aligned with Trump.

So, my thought here is that I really feel like this should be leading the effort to get Joe Biden returned to office in 2025. This shit really does scare me -- how efficiently the GOP has planned to do this shit, and how abjectly bad the Democrats are at bringing this up. Maybe it's because I'm not a political campaign runner and there's something I'm missing, but man, it feels like this would be ***IMPORTANT*** to get in front of the voters? What are your guyses' thoughts on this topic?

    GURPS Games

Feel free to list some games you're running right now. I'll get it started. My game is set in the Palladium Megaverse, specifically the space opera setting of Phase World (the Three Galaxies). The heroes beat all 10 stages of the Labyrinth, and are now celebrities. The big question is what to do next? There's a war building up over finding the Mythical Cosmic Forge, the item that supposedly built the entire Three Galaxies and represents the legacy of the First, a race of beings viewed as almost godlike in the setting...a setting that features honest to goodness gods like Isis or Hestia. And there's also talk about a nasty demon on demon war possibly shaping up! The heroes are setting up shop on a planet recently converted from a hostile ocean world to a full on Garden Planet by the Hyrill Stellar Corporation, an old fixture in the setting with a long history of terraforming planets. Some of them, such as the afore-mentioned Isis, are happy to settle down and get comfortable, while others, such as LeRay the Wizard from another dimension (and game system entirely!) are ready to go kick ass and chew bubblegum, and they're fresh out of bubblegum.
