in Canada they are still allowed to drive those 2004 Peterbilt trucks that run with no emissions controls (no dpf, no euro 7 emission standands: just plain, NOx rich, diesel exhaust gases straight to the atmosphere). If anything, it would help to boycott canadian products.

stock ownership need to have an expiration date. Sure he did work to reclaim the gains of these shares, but at a certain point these stocks need to be relinquished and shared among the real contributors of the company so they could also get a taste of their work. You can't keep leeching off of people like this all the time, or whats the point of having kids and procreation overall ? Even 1 billion$ isn't much to make a globe changing endeavour like space travel, but its too much that if he chose to keep having coke injected directly into his body for the rest of his life he would still have money left. The mere existence of this person is just a nuisance, like many anonymous others

Another attempt by imperialists to shift attention from their wealth hoarding by scapegoating immigrants who are the real value creators: they pay taxes to sustain public services, but also benefit the rich with good value labor. Rest of the population would complain: oh, no! immigrants now are lowering the bar for life quality, while in fact they aren't the real enemy. Hopefully people would see right through it. > The Canadian economy experienced a contraction “unprecedented outside a recession,” according to a new analysis from National Bank Financial, a trend driven, at least in part, by a population spike that has squeezed per capita GDP growth. > The bank’s monthly economic analysis says that “signs of an economic slowdown have been multiplying.” > “Consumption stagnated for the second quarter in a row, a stinging setback in the current demographic context characterized by record population increases,” the report says. > The recalculated GDP per capita — which the bank’s economists had estimated had contracted by 2.4 per cent — now sits, they say, at a 4.4 per cent contraction during the third quarter. > The report also finds that while Canada’s inflation rate is at 3.1 per cent, costs for shelter are growing at six per cent annually. > The first nine months of 2023 saw the single fastest population growth since Confederation. Around one million people joined the Canadian population in that time, exceeding growth in 2022, already a record year for population growth. Since July 1, 430,635 people have come to call Canada home. Less consumerim and lower GDP is the way: living a happy life with the advent of technology should theoratically allow us to work 1 day per week and dedicate the rest of the week to be spend with family and pursuing personal interests, all while having reliable public services like health and transport, while maintaining an ecological lifestyle so the offspring could inherit a healthy habitat. People need to unite to make this a reality, because we are weak when we are divided. We don't need flying cars nor Mars to be populated, a sustainable future is easily achievable for the bottom 80%.

Maybe i am wrong then. Also probably funded by imperialists. Politicians are pointless and will never fight corporate owners for the people. The middle man need to be cut and power should be controlled by the people directly. Retirees were already erased long time ago.

Shocking reality sometimes. Personally i got disappointed when i tried to look for engagement in the wrong places, sometimes you need to 'feel' the people out and see if your interests fit them or not, or you can try to find a middleground between you and them, maybe this sound too 'incel' from me but sometimes internet is the best place to find like-minded people, all while keeping real life in mind. As proven above, i keep using an unpopular app among lemmies, but i dont really take the sentiment to heart: i try to pick the jewel from the garbage, and then share it with my favourite people, i get confirmation, then i profit! i even use trash apps like tiktok and Zuccapp but luckely i could hide behind a DNS if i dont want to be tracked, then i freeze those apps when i am done. The internet now is more addictive than ever, i hope no one get caught into it much. So you are handling this as it should ^^

politicians only role is to be against the person in charge, even just out of spite to look like they are aware of the shortcomings of said governing body; they just like to stir things up in order to stay relevant, while in fact they dont really add any value to society. Just another middleman between imperialists and the bottom 80%.

buying useless stuff, price gouging, consumerist practices like planned obscolecense and just accumulating needless wealth all happen on the expense of climate. future decades will dictate how much people are allowed to live on this earth and hopefully how much wealth is one allowed to accumulate in a lifetime. so far we need to abolish the united states, third world has emission extent next to none, europe being europe, and china with its growth, is at least proactive toward climate (maybe should it work on human rights more maybe ? i dont know) , and even after an afterthought, living in a very hot/cold place is in fact very energy intensive: take for instance the middle east where every household is equipped with AC's running 24/7: living in such climate is just ineffcient ( i would wager living between the northern and southern 30° parallels is a waste of energy ) also is living in canada and scandinavia beyond 60°N: so ideally living in between the 30 and 60° parallels is more efficient, and now you have to adjuste population growth accordingly, and all this is leading to communism since it implies living space sharing. accepting immigrants should be the norm, but at a predetermined rate. also billionaires shouldnt exist: all that accumulated wealth going into waste that could reflect the amount of emissions generated by the person withholding it.

on the consumer level, a certain ecological could be followed: like avoiding owning an iphone, an android that lasts for 7-10 years should be fine, a car for 25 years, have the credit of bringing one child per marriage, maximum 2 children from 2 marriages. The rest is government level: ensuring public transportation, producing renewable energy, avoiding useless student debt, buildling insulation..also it helps if politicians dont take lobby money and did actual work to benefit society, and also fend off corporate greed. a single person shouldn't be accountable for all the pollution

$1 in 2015 is worth $1.30 today(2023), thus a 30% inflation from 2015 to 2023 ; 1/1.30= 0.76 ; 0.76*10= 7.6 ; thus 7.6% produce 50% of all global emissions. i know its bikini-bottom math but it does help to extrapolate things sometimes ..

true, but some countries like Qatar are wholly relying on oil to exist. Who will it be taxing ? itself ? maybe rest of the world could help tax it by avoiding its products and services (qatari airlines, telecom companies, etc their wealth is disguised under so many forms)
iraq_lobster 9 months ago • 100%
i know its kinda inaccurate; they aren't the only one responsible for said emissions: its a whole chain, from crude oil until the finished product. But if they provide oil as a form of energy, they could then be labeled energy companies, and thus they could be hold accountable for not providing clean energy instead. Just a personal mediocre analysis, nothing to be taken serious here..

>Unusually, for the actual rocket launch, the CO2 isn’t really the biggest deal here. It’s possible to use rocket fuel without any carbon in it at all – NASA has been using liquid hydrogen for decades, and Jeff Bezos’ rocket used it too. But commercial hydrogen is made in a very carbon-intensive way, although it’s possible to make with zero emissions. >So it’s hard to untangle rocket launch emissions. We need more research before we can be really definitive, although we know it’s not great. As a ballpark, one researcher has suggested that per person, a space tourism flight is 50-100 times worse for the atmosphere than a long-distance plane flight. >In SpaceX’s case, the Scope 1 emissions are the emissions from the rocket fuel, transporting rockets and SpaceX employees about, and any fuel burned during testing and building. >But SpaceX doesn’t publish its emissions widely. Tesla, Inc., one of Elon Musk’s other ventures, is also surprisingly opaque about the emissions required to build its electric cars – something other electric car manufacturers have been much more open about. And Musk himself doesn’t seem particularly interested in addressing this. In fact, he recently tweeted that corporate environmental and social governance – a common method of reporting and addressing environmental impacts – was “the devil incarnate”. Daddy Elona on the other side launching rockets like hot potates, while some people trying to lower their thermostat and eat ecofriendly food. is it vain ? idk ..
>As we reach the end of our Christmas reality check, the cynical contradictions of Christmas stand glaringly exposed. Despite its image as a season of joy and giving, Christmas in its current form is fraught with issues that extend far beyond its religious and cultural roots. The holiday's deeply ingrained consumerism not only exacerbates economic disparities but also contributes to environmental degradation on a massive scale. Beyond the tangible impacts, Christmas exerts a considerable psychological toll, amplifying stress, loneliness, and mental health challenges. The physical health of individuals and the strain on public health systems can't be ignored either, with marked increases in health emergencies and lifestyle-related ailments during this period.
