Testing, particularly of this kind is not a boring, dull, or technically unchallenging activity.
On the javac team, we cultivated the attitude that testing is a task deserving of serious technical expertise, and sophisticated approaches drawing on advanced computer science. This attitude can be found in other famed industry groups.
A protocol suite like this can be a very worthwhile undertaking.

As an example, this is used to with the the JVM and Java specs. I encourage people to get involved!
