I wouldn't say 0 issues as I have occasional clipboard issues with XWayland apps or KWin crashing results in loss of work. I also find my HP Anyware PCoIP performance to be slightly downgraded compared to X11.
However, the upsides, such as multi-refresh rate and what feels like smoother performance on my RX 6900 XT (home, Tuxedo OS) and Vega 56 (office, KDE Neon) far outweigh it.

I think you can use update-grub
or you may need to re-install GRUB
grub-install --efi-directory /boot/efi

Probably 24.10
But I need to use Kubuntu as the software we primarily need to use it on supports 22.04 & 20.04.
I could use Neon, but I need to test to be sure I can mirror the repo with no problems, with means I may need to wait for Neon with 24.04, which may take a while.

Unfortunately, this will be a thin client so it’s gonna need to have predefined defaults. I could use skel, but I wanna be able to change settings for defaults and pre-existing profiles.

Let's hope this plays well with OpenRGB devices (I.e. PC fans) & my G502 X Plus. Currently, my mouse isn't in OpenRGB

For laptops with RGB-backlit keyboards, Plasma has gained the ability to keep the backlight color in sync with the active accent color! And support for custom colors is coming too
Does that include QMK keyboards (i.e. Keychron) that get tweaked with VIA?

I think it's because of HDMI the values aren't whole.
DisplayPort would display whole numbers

Its insane to think you have any leverage as a contractor for one of the most bloated companies in the history of man kind.
Don't know why you're getting downvoted, but this is the reality.
YamiYuki 7 months ago • 76%
The thing is that these contractors shouldn't expect to be in the same level as a regular employee in terms of importance. And if they didn't fire these people, but they simply didn't bother to renew the contract, then that solidifies that position.
This past few months (can't recall how long it has been) have been full of layoffs across various industries. Their position just became even weaker.

E2EE
But only through Google's RCS

Some developers don't want to deal with building an app for multiple versions. Sure some DEBs can work without needing to deal with that, but some don't.

Safe to assume them that Apple will utilize the bare minimum for RCS.
When Apple implements RCS, was there any information on whether it'll be dependent on the carrier or if Apple will build their own RCS infrastructure? Cuz I suspect it'll be the former.
And if Apple does build their own RCS infrastructure, I highly doubt it'll have E2E encryption as that's essentially iMessage. Will E2E encryption work if one side is Apple and the other side is Google?
And for any RCS messages that doesn't go through Google, does this mean that RCS is still being used sans E2E encryption? What does it look like in the Messages app?

I know that KDE is working on HDR support for Plasma 6 (Wayland). Dunno how ready it'll be by the time it comes out, but its coming.
Other than Plasma 6, I don't think so.

I just finished Detroit: Become Human.
I decided to play it after I upgraded my Deck's SSD to 2TB.
And I've been spending a lot of time on Halo: Infinite.

I didn't need to. I didn't boot it up till yesterday to look for other causes, which was when I realized the fan died.

I discovered that the fan just died.
Sorry for this. I didn't check that old laptop till yesterday to check for other issues unrelated to Plasma, which was when I discovered that the fan died.
It's a spare laptop a friend gave to me recently.

Just wondering if such an option is possible on a phone that is totally Google-free or is virtually de-Googled?

It is. I was merely curious if it's normal at this point in time.

I was merely testing out Plasma 6 on it, and I was just shocked on how sluggish it felt. I recently just got that laptop, so I'm hoping there isn't some BS where the performance gets hampered by the kind of charger i'm using.
I was just curious if that's what's happening at this point in time.

I figured that GNOME's insistence on CSD few years back will bite them in the rear.
https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2/pull/10179#issuecomment-1779298467
And I don't wanna be that guy that's wants something to fail just because it's not to my taste, but I'm glad to hear that the dev thinks KDE's Wayland is in much better shape than GNOME's, especially since GNOME's pushing it really hard.
For me, personally, I won't switch away until Plasma 6 comes out, if it's in much better shape than Plasma 5's Wayland, and games running through Proton work well enough in Wayland competitively.
I'm not sure if this is normal, but it seems that Plasma 6 (Wayland) feels overall slow on my laptop with Intel i5-6200U. ``` Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.90.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.246.0 Qt Version: 6.6.0 Kernel Version: 6.2.0-37-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz Memory: 15.5 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 520 Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Product Name: Inspiron 5559 ``` I only got this laptop recently from a friend so I have yet to test on X11 session. The only other time I've spent using Plasma was on a RTX 3060 Ti in a VM so it didn't feel as slow. Is that normal? Created [bug report 477959](https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=477959).

Let’s have a look at what I’ve been up to in the past two months, again working mostly on either Qt itself or dealing with its behavior changes on the application side."
Before: ![](https://lemmy.kde.social/pictrs/image/cbdc48d0-3dfc-4098-b69c-e313c7b14983.jpeg) Full view of my makeshift L-desk now: ![](https://lemmy.kde.social/pictrs/image/82f903c7-62c4-4db2-bc38-bc2f8b8d124e.jpeg) 2nd desk is also a bedside table in my bedroom. I decided few months ago to downsize as I find myself needing my 2nd desk for other stuff other than for my GPU-passthrough VMs and laptop setup, but I still want the option to do that, so I got myself an LG DualUp, since it's one of the monitors that can do proper 16x9 when split and would require very minimal amount of config when going from full size to picture-by-picture.
