Not necessarily a psychology book but Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon does go into a psychoanalysis of the effects colonization has on people and nations as a whole.

I definitely agree with you but also think that while Elden Ring can be difficult to learn, it's just like any other skill or hobby where you put a bit of time and effort and you can beat it no problem (a person's goldfish beat some bosses). The game also has ways to make it easier by summoning other players or summoning NPCs to help you. Don't get me wrong though, there should be more accessibility options to help people.

Damn, that sucks. I literally just finished the Mistborn trilogy on Friday and it has become one of my favorite series. I haven't had a series I enjoyed like that in like a decade or so. Do you by any chance have links to comments he's made about Zionism or anything like that?

This could be the whole thread right here. Great book that goes very in depth and really opened my eyes years ago when I read it.

You're not wrong at all but there's also the chance your kids turn out like Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg (both their fathers were/are Marxists).

Yeah, France is trying to expand voting rights to recent settlers because the indigenous community is getting closer and closer to passing a vote for independence. It's a desperate attempt to stop it. Fuck France

Send to device should be sending it to the memory of your Kindle. I have a Kobo and that's how it is for me at least and I don't think it'd be that different for Kindles from what I understand.

Can't help with Colombia specifically but on the wider topic of Latin America I highly recommend "Open Veins of Latin America".

I hate finding cockroaches in my home but I've definitely found an appreciation for them in general. They're pretty important to the world's ecosystem.

Tier lists originated in video game culture pretty much. It's a way to try to subjectively rank things within a game by its viability. The s tier thing comes from Japan I believe, where in some academic cases they give an S grade for excellent performance. In the context of tier lists the reason there might be a S+ tier is because some characters might be really really good and are in S tier but some characters are just way better than everyone else and are in a league of their own.

Because they think they're in the right, won't lose, and are untouchable. They literally can't imagine that there will be consequences for themselves or these soldiers in the present or the future so they don't care what these guys do or show.
Yugopnik actually talked about this very thing in one of his videos.
Don't know how many people here watch basketball, but it's definitely my favorite sport. The one thing that I think has lacked in the NBA specifically is actual analytical content that breaks down plays and explains high level things. Sure there are some YouTube channels that do it but they don't have that much reach and so the media surrounding the NBA is just focused on narratives and drama. I watched this episode, and I'm really excited about the future of it cuz this is exactly what I want out of a basketball podcast and I hope it reaches a wider audience within the basketball community.

What's funny is they don't know what whataboutism is. If someone says "Russia is doing a bad thing" and I reply with "USA is doing that same bad thing", that's not whataboutism. I'm speaking about the same topic you are. If I were to say "USA is doing some other bad thing (that wasn't related at all to that topic" then that would be whataboutism.

No, I would say that in recent memory it was just that book that was like that for me. Without spoiling anything I think it had to do with the book being kind of grounded (within the sci-fi setting it set) and then it just wasn't.
And yeah I could definitely understand losing interest in that way. You just kind of lose the connection to the book through lack of interaction with it. Not sure if it would work but it could help to go back a couple of chapters and start reading from there to kind of remember what you were reading and feeling earlier.

I'm Lithuanian and the fascism has been bubbling up for a long time. Don't get me wrong, a lot of people you come across are not fascist but the government itself is a lapdog of the US and pushes fascist rhetoric on the workers through things like the media. They also glorify Nazi collaborators as freedom fighters who fought against the evil Soviets.

I enjoy watching a couple of sports but my main one is basketball. Favorite team is the San Antonio Spurs even though I'm not from that area of the US. Became a fan of them in the early 2010s because I liked their style of basketball back then.
Also I'll always post "The Beautiful Game" tribute video whenever I have the chance.

Richard Medhurst talked about this before and recently. I tried to find the original video I saw but could only find his newer one talking about it here. But yes, while Israel would wipe Gaza off the map just for the land, they also want the natural gas off the coast of Gaza so they can build their pipeline to Europe.

Currently reading Open Veins of Latin America. I knew of the exploitation the colonizers and imperialists did but reading the stats and stories of the earlier periods just makes my jaw drop. I also wasn't aware in the 1800s after Paraguay kicked out the Spanish, they were the only nation in the continent that wasn't controlled by foreign capital and were pretty self sufficient. Obviously that wasn't acceptable to the imperialists so the British helped fund Brazil and Argentina to start a war with Paraguay. Paraguay lost and have been under the boot of imperialists since then.
I didn't realize Ben Norton moved to China recently, that's pretty cool.

LVL 1 year ago • 100%
Obviously you're free to dislike how genres sound but I feel like that's an oversimplification of the genre. It's not just people saying words really fast, there are plenty of slower rappers. It's more about the flow and the wordplay not to mention there's a decent amount of artists that do a sing/rap thing at the same time.

I don't really care how old someone is as long as they have control of their mental faculties and they continue to serve the people. But obviously in a capitalist country as the USA that isn't the case. Same thing with term limits, if they continue to do their job well I don't care. Obviously I'm speaking about socialist countries though so if a person like Xi (who's 70) continues doing a good job I'm all for them continuing being in their position.

The mind is an interesting thing. People are so propagandized about the dprk that something completely normal like a street with people on it looks creepy to them. Doesn't help that there are videos showing dprk streets on YouTube and they put creepy music over it.

This game kinda went under the radar for me the last 2 or so years because I wanted wait until release to buy it. But I saw this news and I have to say, I'm excited for next month.
I saw that the conservative parties seem to be losing to social Democratic ones.

Hey, really enjoying using the app. Was wondering if a search function could be included? I know you can search for communities but it'd be nice to be able to search for posts like you can do on the website.
