Technique: Hand-printed linocut Support: 270g/m2 White vellum paper Ink: speedball black supergraphic black Series: signed and numbered, limited to 100 copies Size: 70x100cm - 27.5x39.3in << What do we perceive from a star if not its radiation? The year 2024 was an opportunity to see boreal aurora at low latitudes, the consequences of multiple coronal mass ejections. I would lie if I said that this is what inspired this engraving because I started it in 2023 but these events considerably oriented its composition. inspired by astrophysics and science fiction, this engraving has the central theme of the sun and the stars in general. There we find, through a series of scientific and symbolic vignettes, representations of stellar nucleosynthesis, atomic diagrams, elements relating to plasma, accretion disks, magnetic fields and, the finality of these processes, radiation. One vignette features the proton-proton chain, a series of nuclear fusion reactions that power the hearts of stars, transforming hydrogen into helium and releasing colossal energy in the form of light and heat. This fusion is the primary source of energy for main-sequence stars, like our own Sun. At the center of the work, the symbol of the element hydrogen (H), the most abundant atom in the universe, reminds us that this primordial element is the building block of stars and galaxies. The diagram of the hydrogen atom, with its single electron orbiting the nucleus, symbolizes the elegant simplicity underlying the complex phenomena of astrophysics. The engraving also includes illustrations of atomic structure and energy levels, evoking the electronic transitions that produce the light spectra observed by astronomers. These spectra are essential for determining the chemical composition, temperature, density and motion of celestial objects. “Radiant” is a window into a different dimension of cosmic physics, evoking both the beauty and complexity of astrophysical phenomena. The use of clean lines and technical symbols creates a dialogue between art and science, inviting one to delve into the depths of the cosmic unknown. This print is a celebration of human curiosity and our endless quest to understand the universe around us. >>

ah sorry to hear that, but music is just as fulfilling! the important thing is not to cut yourself off from artistic practice once you've practiced one.

Alright, Ive got to ask. How do you get started doing this? I pretty much swore off doing more art, but this stuff gets the mind going.
Edit. Just looked at your site. Excellent work. Especially for having done such quality pieces in a short time. Kudos
thank you! i started a little by chance, i had done one or two times in art school but nothing very conclusive and in 2020 i saw on instagram artists that made me want to do it again. i put my last savings in good material (pfeil tools) and i started. the trigger was to find a style around the design of plates pionneer and golden record. I liked it well enough visually and it worked well enough on the networks, so I kept going :) I work quite slowly, producing only one or two a year. in the meantime, I make reeditions in colored ink. but all in all, I don't know why you stopped making art, but if you like it, I encourage you to get back into it ;)

This plate is made of lino. so I ink it and place my paper on it. I apply quite a bit of pressure with a tool and repeat for each print

Are your pieces “3D”/embossed like in the photo on your about me page?
Thank you very much ! yes, all my lino plates are as pictured. They're hand carved with pfeil gouges. You can see more pictures of the plates on my instagram.

The box you are talking about refers in the form to caustics which designates in optics and mathematics the envelope of light rays undergoing reflection or refraction on a surface or a curve. it is clearly visible above swimming pools in particular. In substance while touching the light it figuratively refers to a kind of ether. Aether, in physics, was a hypothesis that space was filled with an invisible, immaterial substance called "luminiferous aether". Before the 20th century, scientists believed that light, like sound, had a kissin' of an environment to propagate. They propagate through the air, where the expected light is thought to propagate through the ether. The only conceptual link is the central vertical part, it represents Feynman's double slit experiment which illustrates the wave and particle nature of light and subatomic particles. Everything does not necessarily have a link, it is above all a graphic composition although it is partly composed of scientific elements.
Mainly visual and graphic work inspired by diagrams and concepts of quantum mechanics. The central part is the representation of the double slits experiment.

About 24 hours of engraving to about 1 hour. from the beginning to the final cleaning. the plate is mounted on a wooden board. I'm waiting for my order of ink and paper for early August. This will be printed around August

as it is above all a graphic work I am a little reluctant to explain everything because it kills the mysterious aura. But I did it for this one because it is the most scientifically based of all my engravings : here is the explanatory sheet :)

Everything is mixed with abstract elements and scientific diagrams about quantum physics. the composition is above all graphic, it is not popularization or a scientific representation.
