It's totally a thing! I never believed in it until I started a huge blanket in celebration of our anniversary but never got to finish it.
Haven't heard of it outside of the internet tbh. Also, I feel like it's more a running gag than an actual belief. We can probably all agree that a breakup happening every 100 sweaters or so is not exactly a curse.

The flight itself is 1.5 h as well, but I would need 2 additional hours by train to actually get to my destination. So idk maybe 6 hrs in total? I have no idea if that's realistic though, have never seen an airport from the inside.

As I'm living in the north of Germany I could probably easily go to Denmark and Sweden, haven't tried that yet though. Been to Prague by train once, which was okay, as there was a direct connection by EC.
Actually I'm planning to go to Austria this summer, so I've recently looked it up. Plane tickets are more then twice as expensive compared to train for my route. The train takes 11-12 hours (depending on connection) though, which is absolute max for me. So yeah, wouldn't go further than that. (Still looked up a connection to Croatia, that would've been an absolute pain in the a** by train...)

I hear you, the biggest needles I can handle comfortably are probably 10 mm. But at least when using needles this large garments knit up in no time. So your struggles will be over soon!
So I want to knit up an all-over lace top, which is originally made with two strands of Lang Yarns Mohair Luxe. I've been searching for non-animal alternatives for quite a while now. My best bet might be Lammy Soft Sensation, but as it's rather cheap I'm afraid it might also look and feel cheap. Does anyone have experience with it? The reviews I can find online are rather scarce. Also been looking into Alize Cotton Gold and Hobbii Amigo. They're not exactly mohair-y but might provide a little fluff and, more importantly, softness. What do you think? Are there better options? TIA!

Been to Annecy not long ago. It's in France, but not far from Geneva, beautifully located between the first foothills of the Alps and the Rhone Valley. The city itself is walkable and I've had the best lemonade there (by Les Brasseurs Savoyards, if anyone is interested to try).

Ich habe als Teenie angefangen vegetarisch zu leben, aus ethischen Gründen, dank massiver Ablehnung in meinen damaligen Kreisen aber offiziell "weil mir Fleisch eh nicht schmeckt und es mir das dann einfach nicht wert ist". Erst als ich Anfang meiner 20er unter Leute kam, von denen zumindest ein paar sich mit Veganismus auseinander setzten, fing ich an, meine Glaubenssätze zu hinterfragen. Insbesondere war ich dem "Vegan ist ungesund"-Narrativ aufgesessen. Sobald das aus dem Weg war, ging es von jetzt auf gleich. Eigentlich wollte ich die nicht-veganen Lebensmittel im Kühlschrank noch aufbrauchen, brachte es aber tatsächlich da schon nicht mehr übers Herz und hab sie stattdessen verschenkt.

Those are great suggestions! Meals that aren't supposed to have meat in it are not "missing something". In the end we always prefer what we're used to and will come back there when lacking willpower, as it's the more comfortable state. So when one wants to reduce/stop eating meat (or really change anything else in their life) it's about getting used to the new, preferred state, in this case meatless meals.

After going through hell the last 7 days I finally feel better! Yay! No more excruciating pain for at least a couple of days! But one of the worst parts has only just begun. Worse not because I feel any more shitty than during the pain, but because no one who hasn't experienced it first hand understands it. Everyone's like "Oh you're not in pain anymore? Then you can go back to work, right?" And some part of me, the blissfully ignorant past-me probably, thinks the same. It blames me for being lazy and work-shy. But I can't go back just yet. I'm _physically not able to_. I'm glad I even got out of bed today, not letting the depression and anxiety devour me. I may be not in pain anymore, but I don't feel any less shitty. Not yet. I need some rest.

Hey beautiful people, need to vent a bit. Figured you might understand + we need a bit activity. (Just hope it's not entirely dead.) I'm currently at hour 28 of my most recent attack. As a chronic sufferer I'm in pain more or less all the time, so I'm calling the really severe ones "attacks". So it's been 28 hours and the triptanes aren't working anymore. I'm so exhausted and tired by now and my head's not working properly. Migraine makes me stupid. I didn't even manage to call in sick today. I'm just lying around doing literally nothing, focused on not dying. Now the major problem is I need to go to a doc to get a sick note, otherwise my hours for yesterday and today are lost and I'd need to work overtime next week. But how am I supposed to _physically_ get there? I'm inable to get myself a freaking glass of water, but driving through the whole city and then sitting in a crowded room for hours full of sick people coughing and talking while the light flickers, only to get "headache? Oh that sucks. You better stay home" by the doc is fine? Does that even follow any logic? So yeah I guess I'm just taking the hours. Even though I lost my last job because of this specific reason. Migraine sucks. Thanks for coming to my vent or something and have a great day for me!

Hallo Freunde, ich habe grade, paradoxer Weise durch den Tatort, gelernt, dass Eizellenspende in Deutschland illegal ist? Das ganze wird dadurch begründet, dass Kinder dann "zwei" Mütter hätten, die Genetische und die Gebärende. Diese Einschätzung wurde schon lange widerlegt und zwischendurch hat der Europäische Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte geurteilt, dass das ganze eine Ungleichbehandlung der Geschlechter darstellt. Denn Samenspende ist erlaubt. Hier gibt es scheinbar keinen Konflikt a la "wer ist mein Vater". Denn Vaterschaft ist ja scheinbar was ganz anderes. Leider hat der EGMR dieses Urteil revidiert, denn das Ganze stellt scheinbar keine Hürde in der Familienplanung dar. Dabei ist ja die ursprüngliche Begründung der zwei Mütter bei der Alternative Adoption viel offensichtlicher und für das Kind präsenter. Was die ganze Argumentation ja eigentlich hinfällig macht. Ich kriege das Gefühl, dass männliche Unfruchtbarkeit hier die Normalität ist. Samenspende ist halt wirklich kein Problem in Deutschland. Damit kann der Vater dann "echte" Vaterschaft erfahren, ohne dafür tatsächlich in der Lage zu sein. Aber weibliche Unfruchtbarkeit wird heruntergespielt und zu einem Mysterium degradiert. Warum darf ich nicht "echte" Mutter sein, mit Schwangerschaft und allem drum und dran, wenn es sich herausstellen sollte, dass ich unfruchtbar bin? Warum messem wir hier mit zweierlei Maß? Klar kann mit Adoption eine richtige Mutter sein, aber warum so vielen Frauen diese so persönliche Entscheidung nehmen, wenn es doch möglich ist?

Kann mir hier jemand sagen, wie es dort mit der Verfügbarkeit veganer Produkte aussieht? Sollte ich mir meine Lieblingssachen lieber mitnehmen oder gibt es (vorraussichtlich) alles, was das vegane Herz begehrt? Mir geht es dabei insbesondere und Grillprodukte, weil ich kein allzu großer Freund von Grillgemüse bin. TIA

Für gewöhnlich trinke ich Oatly, schon allein wegen des Calzium Zusatzes. Geht aber ganz schön aufs Portemonnaie, wenn sie nicht grade reduziert ist. Deshalb halte ich gerne die Augen nach günstigeren Alternativen offen.

Therefore it's nearly impossible to upvote picture-only comments without swipe gestures. (Sometimes it works when clicking the time of post, but that's a kinda icky workaround.)
I'm just trying a new heel construction with a reinforced slip stitch back, a gusset and Up Down Short Row Heel. That's supposed to give a better fit, as the bamboo/cotton yarn is (by far) not as stretchy as conventional sock yarn.
