Yes it feels secure. The magnets are very strong and the locking geometry has tight tolerances, so that on the cutting plane there is no movement whatsoever. And even when a side force is applied to the blade tip, the blade moves but remains engaged, because the two magnets in the back keep it in place. The only thing to look for is avoid scraping the blade edge to the inner side of the body - the mechanism is very “fidgety” but using it too much dulls the blade. You can avoid this scraping by pulling the edge away, but you have to purposely think about it. I even imported it to Europe from the US, so to you it will cost surely less than to me ;)

Since I discovered RAW Power thanks to Lemmy and used it happily since, I thought I post the availability of this more advanced app recently released. With the uncertainty around Affinity Photo after the Canva acquisition, maybe it of interest to some :)

I don't know what it takes for a basketball shoe to be good, but one bootie-style light shoe like the Freet Kidepo and the Sole Runner Surtur and T1 look like the nearest you can get. Maybe a thicker insole could help with impacts if landing without proper form. The only other wide shoes with more cushioning that come to mind are Lems, but they don't have indoor sports boots, just low-cut sneakers.

No I think the level 3 is only available in selected countries, roads and speeds. It’s called Drive Pilot and it’s not the one they are using in the video.
Etnaphele 4 months ago • 100%
You got me here, wasn’t even aware that the Mercedes system is officially a level 2 with Steer Control that is supposed to do much better than seen in the video. I still think they should have compared with the more basic Autopilot, though, as this is what consumer report evaluated and the safety problems of Tesla’s lack of driver monitoring are there.
I edit my first comment according to what I learned through the discussion :)
Etnaphele 4 months ago • 100%
I just care about proper and honest reporting. I’d have a Tesla any day over a Mercedes, for many reasons, but bashing systems based on the wrong assumptions is wrong. They are showing a line keeping assistant that requires steer control at all times (Merc) and a system that aims to be unsupervised - only that it should supervise and doesn’t do it properly, hence the lower score in many tests and the federal investigations in the USA.
Etnaphele 4 months ago • 100%
MB Driver Assist could be compared with Tesla Autopilot. FSD does obviously much more in that is a “Level 3 beta”, albeit always level 2 because of its development stage. The yet to be released Drive Pilot from Mercedes - the Level 3 automated driving system - could be compared with Tesla FSD, that is a comparison I would gladly see!
Btw, the start of the video on the consumer report evaluation is about Driver Assist and Autopilot. The car in the video then runs FSD.
Etnaphele 4 months ago • 20%
This comparison doesn’t make any sense, why bother?
EDIT: actually quite interesting in how bad the Mercedes lane keeping is even though with a Level 2 automation should do better. Misleading title and video beginning, because Consumer Reports evaluated Autopilot and not FSD.

You are right, I don’t know if he didn’t have a choice. But if a hospital is just 20km away, I wonder if just calling an ambulance would have been the easier and smarter thing to do. The fact that he could get health care and arrived safely is awesome - and I personally cheer any advancement in the automotive driving field - but this story shows more of the problems of Teslas marketing approach and fail to implement driver attention assessment systems. There are more advanced and safe ways to approach automated driving, see Mercedes.

The problem is: he drove himself. The fact that the car couldn’t recognize that the driver couldn’t be in control of the vehicle is appalling and brought risk for everyone who shared the road with that man. What’s wrong with calling an ambulance? It’s not that he didn’t have any other choice.

It’s marketable, remarkable or not is secondary, point is faster than anything else :) Everyone knows that sub-something 0-to-something-else straight line acceleration spec for an ev is exactly what our planet needs right now! Jokes aside, all these “super” vehicles are either to make huge profits with margins a-la-Ferrari or to push the brand aka pure advertising. And honestly, this is one of the most entertaining advertising around!

Nov-Mu V2 on its way, if a mule, then this I would say! Everyone seems to love this light.
I just ignore the existence of E07x Canon because if I just open its webpage I would end ordering it, too :D Hopefully it can be modded to make the beam pattern work with dedomed 519a - I also like a nice, even beam!
Yeah the output with 4000K could be a letdown, espetially if the tint is greenish. Maybe I'll change to the FFL emitter, but I really want to try out the 70.3. Maybe it won't be the right host after all, I would like to drive it with as much current it can take! Does someone have suggestions on the best host for a 70.3 - high output wall of light, good sustain? The Convoy hosts (L6?) look very interesting.
Etnaphele 6 months ago • 100%
Nice "black and white" collection you have there! Cool to see the two different and very characteristic styles from Hank and FF side by side.
I have a Nov-Mu V2 in fossil grey on the way and the color looks awesome in pictures, with the marbled texture up close. For the X1L I'm debating, but I think I'll go with matte black for the contrast with the shiny gloss of the stainless steel parts - unfortunately no clip in glossy black, but I will take it out eventually.
I'm glad you report no issues with your lights!
Hullo! I just wanted to make aware of the latest updates on one of the newest Fireflylite flashlights, the [X1L Elite](https://www.firefly-outdoor.com/en-de/products/fireflylite-x1l-elite) (I am in no way affiliated with them and read the most info on Reddit, but it would be nice to kickoff a discussion on it here too). Yesterdays update includes these 3 emitter choices: * CREE XHP50.3 HI 5000K CRI90 2600lumens 120 000cd * CREE XHP70.3 HI 6500K CRI70 3500lumens 84 000cd * CREE XHP70.3 HI 4000K CRI90 2600lumen 62 000cd It's very strange that the 70.3 HI 4000K would output the same lumes as the 50.3: I asked them and Ivy (the sales representative of Fireflylite) says it's because it's the low bin K2, if someone were interested. There is as of now just one review by [ZeroAir](https://zeroair.org/2024/03/04/fireflylite-x1l-flashlight-review/) but it is expected that at least two other reviews will come out soon. I hope some of you find this interesting, I personally find the 4 new models that are slowly coming out of preorder beautiful and with solid specs. What are your thoughts? Did you preorder the X1L or other new gen FFL flashlights?

As far as I know, the "four thirds" mount was an open, with the same sensor size as its successor, the "micro four thirds" mount. The former was a DSLR system, the latter is a mirrorless system. I don't think there are any commercially available interchangeable lens cameras with that aspect ratio, that don't use either of the two standard mounts - they are both from the Micro Four Thirds Standard Group (link).
Etnaphele 7 months ago • 100%
Canon latest mirrorless bodies are awesome and also good value (but stay away from the R100). As others have said, good native RF lenses are expensive. They have also cheaper options, but what they miss is the good value middle ground usually represented by Sigma and Tamron. One big upside is the EF to RF adapter, that works very well and lets you use the lens you already have before investing. Remember that a lens remains with you decades, contrary to a body, and paying a bit more could really be a good choice in the long run. Just my view, a bit in contrast with many steering you away from Canon. Quality wise, there’s no difference between brands: most importantly a camera should disappear in your hands and be really ergonomic - go in a shop and handle them all!

I despise this SUV trend, too, but isn’t it a bit extreme to judge a person just by the car they drive? The majority of people don’t even think about it and the market is flooded with these things, so they have less and less choice. There are cases where SUVs make sense, in mountainous regions and where it snows a lot, but I agree that space has to be better used and public space respected.

* Keychron Q8 Pro * Gazzew U4Tx + a couple of Kailh Box Navy switches * MTNU Beige keycaps (lovely new profile, GMK made double-shot PBT, expensive - even more due to Colemak) I bought the keyboard immediately when I found out they made a BT version of the Q8 (I use a Q10 daily at the office), as I was looking for an iPad compatible one. Just wanted to share the link to the livestream of the designer Matt3o looking at the first batch of the MTNU keycaps. They are made by GMK out of PBT, with double shot legends. The profile has been developed by Matt3o and GMK as a Cherry-height spherical angle shape. First batch is currently shipping out and has the WoB, Beige and Susu colorways. I find it really interesting and I don’t think I read anything here regarding this.
