I watched a video on methods for detecting AI generation in images. One of the methods was comparing the noise on different color channels. Cameras have different noise in different channels while AI doesn’t. There is also stuff like JPG compression artifacts in other image formats.
So there are technical solutions to it but I wouldn’t know how to automate them.

Love this movie. It’s a bit slow for people addicted to action flicks but I love how the whole plot is slowly unveiled until it erupts at the end. Psychological horror with a bit of supernatural because you can never really tell if whets happening is just him going insane or if he was influenced by other forces. The use of the recordings to slowly ramp up the tension was great.

Part of what makes the books brilliant is that, while there is connectivity between some of them, they are all self contained. Pratchett managed to do this without being repetitive or assuming that the reader has read all the books before the one being read. There are times when characters refer to previous books but it never happens in a way that makes you feel like you are missing something. It is useful to read the different series in order but not necessary.

They are a parody of modern life through the lens of fantastical places, characters, and events that occur on the discworld. It’s a flat land supported by 4 elephants sitting on the back of a space turtle.
There are several mini series within the collection that feature recurring characters and different story archetypes. There are the witches, a coven of 3 witches who tend to be helpful even if they don’t want to be. The night watch features Sam Vimes and other policemen of the major city of discworld who stumble through investigations. Deaths daughter features a girl who was adopted and raised by the personification of death, tall guy, kinda skinny, TALKS LIKE THIS. And the wizards college where magic is studied and knowledge is collected but rarely used.
Aside from those mini series there are lots of stand alone stories and even the books in the mini series can be read as standalone. There is no right or wrong place to start but there are some recommended reading orders that can help you decide where you want to dive in.
I may have some stuff omitted or incorrect. It has been a while since I have read the books but they maintain their position at the front and center of my bookshelf.

It’s not really a surprise anymore. If you have a large gathering of people, someone is going to bring Covid to the party. That’s our world now because we couldn’t stay home for two weeks.

I did this back in 2008 using virtual box. Had a dual boot system and got curious as to whether or not I could boot the Linux partition as a VM. I don’t remember it being difficult to do but this was before EFI and secure boot so those may cause trouble. I’m not 100% sure I used virtual box either :/

I would if it were a low cost option. All the manufacturers have their laptops premium priced. Pair that with Windows on ARM being sluggish when it needs to run apps through an emulation layer, it’s not worth it. Cut the average $1500 price tag in half and they will probably do better.

Yeah it is. I was around when woke first started making its rounds and it was used to describe people who were aware of social injustice against them, mostly black people at the time. I’m not surprised that the word made it into common use, just surprised at the audacity of people using it as a strong negative against equality and inclusion.
Dagamant 3 months ago • 97%
It’s funny how they can never define “woke” when asked but have no problem labeling any sort of inclusion as woke when they make a list of woke things. To them, woke is just the safe word to say instead of the slurs they want to say.

Yeah, I live in the southeast US, outside is not exactly comfortable for walking and there are not many good options closer than the gym. I go to the gym where I can spend more time on the treadmill than I would be willing to spend outside.

It was one post on Reddit. It had a ton of comments but it isn’t a huge number of players mad about it. It was in a piracy sub and still most of the comments were along the lines of “Why didn’t you migrate your account during the 3ish years they were emailing people who hadn’t done it?” And the rest were either “DRM bad” or “Just pirate it, it’s not hard.”
Not really a news worthy thing. People had more than enough time and warning to move their account and the people who didn’t have nothing to stand on other than misplaced anger. I’m not a fan of Microsoft but they really did handle the migration well and gave people way more time and notice than they needed to.
