Titanfall
I'm MentalEdge, a.k.a. EdgeMentality. In addition to now modding this community, I have long hosted the [MENTAL](https://northstar.tf/servers/?filter=MENTAL) northstar servers. ## The state of Titanfall Both vanilla games are playable at the moment. Though getting a copy of the first title is no longer possible if you don't have one already. Titanfall 2 has received recent updates that have fixed long-running issues with matchmaking, and even finally designated private matches as being out of beta. Now is a great time to jump in and play, especially for console players, who've not been able to benefit from the Northstar Client to play on community-run servers. ## Northstar Client If you are on PC, and wish to play titanfall 2, there is the option of using the Northstar client. I highly recommend this, as it fixes security vulnerabilites that may still be around in vanilla, though they may have been patched up by the recent updates hitting TF2. Northstar adds an old-school style server browser, which will let you connect to community run servers (some by yours truly), running various game-modes and mods, improving the game in some aspects beyond what vanilla could do. There are even entirely new game-modes! You can find more information on the [Nortstars homepage](https://northstar.tf/). ## New to the game If you are new to Titanfall, I host the only beginner servers currently on northstar, they will let you get the hang of the game without constant bullying from veteran players speeding around the map at mach 3. The servers are kept free of stompers by an automated kicking system that detects high skill players. This is just a quick message to let everyone know that the Titanfall has moved to https://titanfall.wiki.gg/ The reason for the move being that the old version was hosted via _Fandom_. That company hosts many gaming wikis but has recently been caught up in multiple controversies regarding turning wiki pages into ads, auto-generating incorrect random trivia questions, and making the wiki near unusable without an adblock. I have been playing my butt off the last couple days since they fixed matchmaking, and having the time of my life. The cheaters are minimal (only seen about 4 in two days that were blatant) and the matches are generally good and relatively close most of the time. This game is like crack to me again! Only thing that's a bit weird is that I get backfilled at over a 2-1 ratio to starting a new match. I noticed that it seemed off today so I started tracking stats, and just this evening I played 15 backfill matches and only 6 that started from the beginning. That can't be happening to everyone. Anyone know what might cause that?
Essentially there's a huge amount of data in one of the VPK files that's being repeated and I think it should be able to be removed, I'm looking at the largest VPK file in the game btw.
Seems like someone at Respawn is up to something? 👀
