Old School Minecraft
Can't connect? Having any weird issues? Check this out! (Will be expanded as needed.) **No sound** First try just restarting the game a few times - sometimes that's all it takes. If that doesn't work, proceed: Download this (in gzip format, you will need 7zip or similar to extract): https://archive.org/details/Beta-1.7.3 In MultiMC/Prism, click on your b1.7.3 instance and click "Folder" on the right side menu. Enter the .minecraft folder, delete the contents of the resources folder there, and replace them with the files from the extracted archive. **Can't connect** This includes timeout errors, "An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remove host", and similar. First, make sure you're using either Prism Launcher or MultiMC. The official launcher does not handle old versions as well. When you made your instance, make sure you selected b1.7.3 and NOT 1.7.3. This requires toggling the "Betas" checkbox seen below.  Finally, try connecting to the [website](http://oldschoolmc.live) - if you can't visit that, there is a chance your ISP may be blocking our IP address. DM me and I'll help.
Firstly, make sure Java 8 is installed. Java 17 should work as well but Java 8 is what I recommend. Now, download [this version of CraftBukkit](https://charlesst.us.to/files/Minecraft%20Beta%201.7.3%20Server/craftbukkit_BETA_1.7.3.jar) and [this version of AuthMe](https://charlesst.us.to/files/Minecraft%20Beta%201.7.3%20Server/plugins/AuthMe.jar) (ZeroSSL isn't trusted on many systems for some reason, ignore certificate errors if that happens). Unfortunately I couldn't get Canyon to work. Now, make a folder, and put the CraftBukkit jar in the folder. Then, in that folder, make a folder named `plugins`, and move the AuthMe jar into that folder. Now run the CraftBukkit jar like usual (using a batch file or `java -jar`). **You won't be able to connect to it yet.** Now quit the server when it has finished generating the chunks (such as via Ctrl-C). Now open the server.properties file, and turn off online mode, and allow flying (AuthMe sometimes triggers the (very primitive) flying detection). Now run the server again, and you should be good to go!

I tried to connect but the server and website seems offline. Sad to see the old school server go.
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a plugin that can broadcast random messages within an interval, like the AutoMessage plugins from newer version, I can't find one that works in beta 1.7.3 with craftbukkit/poseidon Thanks for your help!

The server is pretty new, but we have a small but active, nice and friendly community of players and Java developers that want to relive the old memories of Minecraft and 2b2t, so we're looking for that kind of feel. The server has been up for seven months, so the map is very fresh, but we have overworld & nether highways, bases, a nether hub and a cool-looking spawn. We have reached 10gb in size, so there must be something for you to find! We are one of the most active beta servers, having reached 20 PLAYERS ONLINE PEAK! I just got on the community server a couple days ago and it's been real quiet, but it's fun to see what other people have built! It's my first time going back to a beta version since the game actually was in beta, and I'm surprised how nice it is to play after being completely used to modern Minecraft.

Because the world wasn't infinite at that time, it took the screenshots easily. It still can be done in modern minecraft hovewer, with some plugins.

I'll remove them after someone finds the treasure.
I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but this area has been hit particularly hard by creepers. If you come across this chest, please donate some dirt/sand to fill these holes in!

More details will be released in a dedicated post later this week. You can play solo, or form a team and share the rewards! **- Whitelist disabled** I thought it over and don't believe it's necessary for us at the moment. It introduces friction for users, and since this version isn't mainstream (and the whitelist was open to all), it didn't provide any meaningful protection against bad actors anyways. **- Minor website updates** Mostly around the above changes. The events page will be open to users soon.
The [community server post](https://lemmy.world/post/61296) says you should get whitelisted within 24 hours. I submitted a whitelist application a few days ago, and I haven't been added yet (and looking at the comments of that post implies it hasn't been updated in nearly a month). A wait period of longer than 24 hours is fine, but I think that should be reflected in the post.

Glad to see people continuing to work on modding b1.7.3 throughout the years!
This was a small SMP server that me and a few other randoms grouped up and built a town on back in January. It's running beta 1.7.3 with the Better Than Adventure mod. We had fun playing during that month, no we've all moved on.
I couldn't think of a name for this bridge/river, so if you think of one you are more than welcome to name it.

I am just about finished with this place. I was able to use minecarts as chairs. It's a bit bulky, but if anyone would like to come over and drink milk with me, we now have a place to sit.
