Gentoo goes binary!

Gentoo goes binary! "To speed up working with slow hardware and for overall convenience, we’re now also offering binary packages for download and direct installation! For most architectures, this is limited to the core system and weekly updates - not so for amd64 and arm64 however." Promoting Linux: An End-User Manifesto

Promoting Linux: An End-User Manifesto By ExplainingComputers I want to be honest and straight here ... Some time ago, i installed Linux for my sister as windows alternative. I was ready to give support, explain stuff, solve problems. No issues on my side. I setup printer, basic 'productivity software' etc. Time passed, and i started hearing "we don't want to bother you ... " etc. and her husband wasn't very open for 'new way of doing things'. [\#gnulinux](https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/gnulinux) or [#FreeBSD](https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/FreeBSD) is not for everyone. And simply deal with it. Not everyone will like it, and use it. Another problem is ... we live at time where wayland is pushed everywhere, and that means more bugs/problems. Actually, this is the worst time to engage average user. Wayland in current state isn't ideal, if something broke will you have time to fix it? support that person? Is that person able to solve the problem without help? This is not 'gatekeeping', and before you waste time ask yourself - are you ready for this responsibility? Yes, we all would be happy to see people preferring Linux or FreeBSD over M$, or Apple ... but not everyone will jump into this, and not everyone will stay. And please, stop with all of these fork bomb jokes etc. This is useless, and not funny. btw. I think the best thing you can do is to apply Linux / FreeBSD in education (if you are teacher, or 'minister' of education).
