Simple app for making midi-like music? Music sequencer?

I'm looking for something that "a child would find easy to learn", possibly a virtual keyboard with an obvious "start recording" button that does that, recording your keys on the selected Track, then allowing easy playback so you can listen to it.

Help: Bundled APK fails to run on my phone with DivestOS

I have a custom ROM (DivestOS); I don't have access to the Play Store. The latest version of Honkai: Star Rail is out, but Aurora installs the bundled version of the APK which always throws an error "Not enough storage space to install required resources" (there is enough space). In the past, I've used APK Mirror to download the standalone version of the APK. But the latest update on APK Mirror only offers the bundled version. I've tried APK Pure and APK Combo to install an XAPK version, but that always fails too. So, does anyone know where I might find the standalone version of the app, or how to resolve the bundled app error? Thanks in advance.

Android Compute Core App...

I am trying to find this application that's in fdroid (repo on github) but I am unable to find it again. It's an application designed to help bring the music finder feature from android 12+ to older versions. Android compute core. > shazam foss alternative built into AOSP Just something I like that Android has, no Google from what I've read back when I got my pixel. The music that my phone detects doesn't get sent to google. Anyways, I can't find app, and the icon is literally the same as the official one from what AOSP has.

Any simple spreadsheet app for Android?

I just need one that can add up few items for eg. daily expenses etc. And should pop-up keyboard automatically as soon as I touch a cell. No need for complex formula support or fancy graphics. Single sheet is also OK. Edit: I am looking for something like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.thinctank.cellcalc This one doesn't popup keyboard so needs two touches to enter data. And I do not know how to access stored data!

is there any Lemmy android app with data saving?

Something to disable image loading when not on Wi-Fi, for instance? Reddit is Fun had that option, and I have very limited data so that really helped me out.

Oh man, I just can't get away from Multiling O Keyboard play.google.com

it's not open source, hasn't been updated for years (though the developer did update all the dictionaries for Android 14 recently) but its customization options just can't be beat. I use swipe left and right for delete and space and auto-correct with a dictionary I've been adding to for years. It allows you to add custom emoticons and words, it has a тяαทรƒ๑я๓ functions to add ⓥⓐⓡⓘⓞⓤⓢ GIᙏᘻIᑥKS to text... It has an option for swiping, too, though that's instead of the swiping for backspace and space. You can also edit which letters have what symbols above it. ![](https://feddit.nl/pictrs/image/94279fa3-cc15-4e1e-b334-3d4649c31cab.png) Here's what my keyboard looks like. Notice the handy copy, paste, home, end, undo and redo buttons, too. Which are also completely customizable. Haven't found anything that truly does everything Multiling O does. I do wish it was open-sourced though, if only so others could update it again...

Just found my new keyboard! https://keyboard.futo.org/

I came across this purely by accident, but it checks pretty much all of my boxes for a good keyboard: ✅ It is simple, beautiful, and customizable. (I like to use AMOLED black, and increase the height a bit) ✅ It has built in *offline* voice typing. I had been using sayboard for this which was not bad, but so far this is a little quicker and more accurate. ✅ It has easy to use settings (I used ASK for years despite the mess of the settings) ✅ ~~It's FOSS~~. Edit: Apparently, it's currently under a development license that limits certain types of use. The source code is open, and the stated intent is to make it fully FOSS when it is completed. ✅ It has swipe typing. I was using heliboard with a gesture typing library added, but it'snice to have it built in. It has some interesting features like using an adjustable LLM for text prediction. It will be really interesting to see how it shapes out.

ANSWERED - Offline Translation?

Is there an app that offers good quality translation offline? I usually use [TranslateYou](https://you-apps.net/) which is a fantastic frontend for various services. When I'm traveling, I don't always have a network connection when I want a translation. Edit: The answer to this is [RTranslator](https://github.com/niedev/RTranslator/releases). The latest update that transformed it into the most powerful translator I've ever used came a couple days ago.

Voicemail transcription?

Is there a visual voicemail app that works well and is free or reasonably priced? I've been using Voxist on my pixel phone, but the charges are too much to really justify ($5-10/month for 30/100 transcriptions). I'd be willing to make a one time payment or a small subscription for unlimited voicemails.

Gesture typing library for Heliboard?

I've been using HeliBoard lately as my primary input. It's based on AOSP keyboard and includes a few quality of life improvements over say, OpenBoard. One feature is possible gesture typing. The setting reads: "Provide a native library to enable gesture typing." I am not sure what a gesture library is or how to get one. Does anyone have an insight on this?

Need testers for my newly created Mastodon app

Hello everyone. I have been working on building a new Material themed Mastodon app. I have only been working on it for a few weeks. I am aware it is lacking features and some features are incomplete. I am needing some people to use it and report bugs to me for the initial release in a couple weeks. I do believe the app is alpha ready, if anyone would like to test it for me, you can do so using the link below: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cory.sparkformastodon

Is there an F-droid repo with strict policies against cryptocurrency apps?

So I'm no fan of cryptocurrencies, and I'm dismayed at how many crypto wallet crap apps are in the main F-droid repo. Between the environmental and social effects of cryptocurrency, I think it at least would warrant an antifeature flag. I've looked in vain for apps that allow me to at least filter out keywords or categories that I don't care about in the first place, but no luck. Is there a general purpose repo with regular updates that *also* won't promote cryptocurrency by hosting apps for that purpose?

Looking for an app for chores

I'm looking for an app to keep track of my kids chores and allowance. In a perfect world, I would like something everyone could have on their device, where I could assign dollar/point amounts to chores, the kids could check them off as they're done, and I could go back and deduct points/money if they weren't done properly. OurHome seemed like the perfect app for what I need, but no one except me was able to add it to their phone or accept my invites (even my wife, who has the same phone as me). I tried it a few times over the last year before giving up, even trying to email the developer. I've tried a few others since then, but they either didn't meet *any* criteria or they required a subscription. I'm all for paid apps, but I don't have the money in my budget currently to add a monthly expense (especially if I'm going to potentially boost my kids allowance). Does anyone have any suggestions?

2FAS or Aegis

I am unable to choose between the 2. I need some advantage/disadvantage to make me decide one I love the Aegis UI but I hear that 2FAS is more secure. I would also like to know which of the 2 options is closer to FOSS "philosophy".

i found a great goodreads alternative

i've been trying to find an alternative to goodreads for a long time, and among the requirements were a nice interface, a complete database of books, a social component (friends, recommendations, voting reviews...) and a spanish language. the latter is not fulfilled in this case, but time will tell. i recently tried storygraph and although it's a good app in terms of functionality, there was something about the interface that didn't quite convince me. then by pure chance i discovered [Hardcover](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hardcover.app), which has everything i'm looking for (except the language) and also allows you to import your goodreads library. if you like this kind of apps you should give it a try.

Sync SMS to other Android device or desktop/web

So, I need text messages from my secondary phone -- either on my primary phone (both Android, both Samsung Galaxy) or on a web-based service. The forwarding must be near-instant. I can wait a few seconds; maybe a minute, but not two. The setup must be reasonably secure and reliable. I'm looking for a trustworthy app; willing to pay, but would prefer free trial to see it really works. I don't want to send all my message unecrypted through some server in someone's basement, but I'd consider a professionally run service. E2E is gold, but must be practical.

Recommend me an app!

What's that one app on your phone that is utterly invaluable to you specifically. Maybe it's got a super small use-case, but for you, and you alone it's absolutely invaluable. I'll get us started... [Stitch Photos ](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tapuniverse.stitchphotos) It's a small all that allows me to stitch photos together. I usually use it to stitch screenshots together. It's got a nice interface and is absolutely fantastic at the one thing I need it to do. What about you?

Offline code editor w/no ads?

I'm wanting to do some light coding on my phone. I want no ads, monospace font, prefer FOSS. Syntax highlighting would be nice, but not required. Should handle files of decent length, 200+ lines. Pretty much anything on F-Droid is for older versions of Android, play store apps all seem to have ads or onine editing.

Any keyboards similar to gboard that don't collect data?

Really as similar as possible but I guess the must haves for me are: * Dark theme * Swipe to type ability (I usually tap but definitely want swiping as well) * Searchable emoji's * Word suggestions Nice to have: * Text editing tools for moving cursor just one character at a time through button presses * Clipboard button * Copied text automatically becomes next suggested word the first time the keyboard is invoked after copying the text * Suggested _next_ word.

Just wondering if anyone else has learned the Thumb-key keyboard well and could share their typing speed? I have been using the TypeSplit layout for a few weeks now and get over 50-55 wpm with it consistently. I'm still learning it though so I'm expecting to see over 60 wpm soon.
